(Book 2) Warriors: Beyond The World

Chapter 4

Four cats have been shown promising wishes for this world, but their is yet one more in this clan that deserve the space to carry the scavenger of the great journey....

"Yawn* man I cant believe I went through all that trouble over one fish" Featherpaw stood bye his mentor, Groundtail, who was just finishing passing word from the patrol that went on over at the border, I have to admit, that was a long and very boring patrol,  he looks away and saw the other cats back from combat practice...or was it an apprenticeship. Not sure from way back here, but Reedpaw jumped around excited about something over Scalepaw who just look more tired than the rest. Wolfpaw who stood bye Sunshine and Darkspirit was being scolded bye his mentor, not sure about what. But it was not my business.... actually I didnt quit like him much. He was a bit of a violent type in my opinion.

"Featherpaw" his thought were interupted and he looks back at his mentor. "you can go on ahead and get along with your apprentices, but be sure to get rest soon, we have a hunting patrol in the morning"

Featherpaw stood up tall proud to have him as my mentor, let alone being chosen by the deputy, "Awesome! This will be a fun hunt I just know it!" he raced off for his friends, relieved that he wasn't in a clan were he was the only litter in the clan like Dustclan, they only had one kit from what I hear. "hey whats going on guys" he topples over Wolfpaw, as Wolfpaw give him a playful bit on the shoulder to make him let go.

"Ahh troublesome pest!" Wolfpaw hissed.

"Hey Featherpaw..." Reedpaw had her head down, looking at Wolfpaw his anger face showed sign of fustration as well, Feathertail looked at Scalepaw and he seemed...well rarely expressionless.

"Reedpaw what the matter, whats going on?" I asked her calmly as she sighed and laid flat on the cool sand.

Wolfpaw youled with a fustrated growl, "We failed our training thats what, and it was all her fault!" he kick sand from his hign claws as Reedpaw dug her face in shame. Scalepaw was still stunned at I'm not sure what,

"Is he okay?" I asked Wolfpaw, pointing my tail at Scalepaw.

"Does it look like I care?!" he continued kicking the sand from the opposte direction, "If anyone needs me I will be in my den" he walks off cursing to himself about the asseccment.

"I..nvr, gumble..wa" Reedpaw mumbled from under the sand.

"What?"Featheraw asked as she pops her head out.

"Im not fit to be a warrior, I mean look at me?"

Featherpaw looks at her puzzled, "you seem fine to me, I dont follow?"

She stood up trying to get to his height, "your tall I'm short, very short, unlike my brothers. Especially Scalepaw who should snap out of it!" Feathertail cranks his head over to Scalepaw who just stood their. "somethings gotten into him im not sure what?" She sighed and give out a fustrated grunt.

"But anyways changing topic, your a great warrior and I have to say your a better hunter than I am, I mean you can track anything  better than your brothers can" Feathertail leaped up on my paws and giving out a playful stance, "you know what lets race!, I bet I could sprint farther than you can" he pointed at the boulder of vitallity.

She gave out a snckering glare and lashed her tail out, "your on!" but as soon as they were about to run Iceshade stumbled out from the bush and made us almost stampered right over her. She drew back her ears, alomost like Featherpaw was about to ram into her.

"S-sorry I didnt see ya their" he apologizes to her, Reedpaw follows second.

"Reedpaw, featherpaw? What are you two up to?" shacking her pelt and standing tall she licks the top of Reedpaw head, "aww hows my daughter doing?" she looks at Featherpaw, shacking away and fixing herself from embarrisement.

"Mom! Im not a Kit!" she meowed. Iceshade purred and looks at Feathertail while Reedpaw fixes herself.

"And how are you today?" she asked Featherpaw, "you seem to be in a happy mood lately? How was the patrol with Groundtail?"

"Excellent!" he meowed excitingly, "you wont believe the fish that I caught, He taught be about the technique right after we started to reset the border markers, it was a big one too and it put up a fight to go back into the water" he placed an immitation by swipping it to the ground, "Bit it down like this and then it slapped me a good few times around the cheek, but I was too quick and tore its side apart to were it wont be able too....well you know" Iceshade couldnt help but bring out a murrow in laughter.

"That is excellent I am proud of you, were is this fish right now if I may ask" she asked.

"well... I gave it to Mirrorpaw,...she ate it" he gave out a small nip in front of Reedpaw, "like this" he teased as Reedpaw cuffed him lightly on his back.

"Well make sure that story stays with you till you grow old, now Reedpaw, I heard about what happened earlier" she shivered and bows her head in shame.

"I'm sorry mom, I didnt mean to give out our position... I... I was scared a bit, froze" she explained about the accessment and the mistake she did.

"You have no reason to be ashamed of" she mewwed, "I am happy that you took this mistake for it shows that you still have alot to learn, but fear is very normal" she stood pver her daughter, "if a warrior does not gain fear, then he lacks safety and common sense for himself and others" Featherpaw stood by her and gave her a shove.

"Hey want to know a small secret?" he asked her ash she nodded, suprise to think she is a wimp, "when Grountail first taught me how to fish, I fell into the river, like not even a moon before I was apprenticed, but ever sice I scare to go into raging rivers, it taught me to be very careful when fishing. Its fun but can be dagerous as well" he meowed.

"I just dont like to go full on into battle" she mewed as Iceshade lick her head once more,  but she didnt flinch.

"I know and in most hearts, no one want to fight, especially to the death. Not even the bravest of warriors could consume the bearing of killing any of our own for so long Remembering this will make you into a very wise and smart cat, keep your brothers safe by giving them the right advice. Especially Wolfpaw" hse pointed out.

"Uhh I had enough talk with Wolfpaw, he thinks I'm helpless..." she gives out a grim face, then sadness struck her as she remembers about the assessment. "I wish he took me seriously instead of treating me like im useless.."

"Reedpaw your not useless, I told you that several times already"he growled, "you know what, hows about I teach ya how to fish like Grountail taught me" he stood forward standing proud over her. "bet once I teach ay you probably couldnt catch more than me"

Her spirit started to shine again and and gave a competative stare, "once again your on!" she broke away from her mother and stood bye him.

"Oh and remember this, your not the only one who has ever failed an assessment" she pointed out then grinned a bit, "your fauther..umm Teaterclaw was a huge clumby furball, failed almost every assessment Ashclaw could give him" she laughs and licks her paw, "now look at what he has become, he is a hero and you never know you might be one as well"

"R-really?" she widened her eyes and stared at Featherpaw for a moment, "thanks mom, I will do everything I can learn into being a warrior, and when that day comes i will serve my clan with the highest respect" she leap off and started heading for the forest, "hey what you doing im still ahead of you on the race!"

As she storms off Featherpaw gave out a grunt, "hey you cheated! Stuby legs!"

But as they left they forgot the real secret message what will unfold into these young heroes, "world of adolescence, world of adolescence, world of adolescence, the black dust will rise from hell" Scalepaw wispered and walks around the camp, unnoticed by anyone, "someone is going to die today, the claw will reach its thorns, the sever beats the mouth....bring in death"
