It was a beautiful August day. Hot but not humid. It was a saturday afternoon and he stood in the kitchen talking to his parents.
"If you have any problems call us. Yoir mother and I have to sell your Grandparents old house."
"When will you be back?"
"We'll probablly be back layer tonight the couple won't be able to make it until tomorrow afternoon"
"Alright I'll see you guys when you get back"
Joe followed them outside and waved goodbye to them from the porch as the car pulled out of the driveway. Once they were gone he ripped his phone off the charger and called up his best friend.
"Hey yo! I'm having a party at 6. Get over here and help me get the party all ready." Alec talked into the phone.
"Sure, I'll be right over."
Alec began texting his friends. He invited most of his math class. He awaited the responses. All the kids who he played football with at gym said they could come. And pretty much all of the girls came. Alec was excited. Not that he was about to have a party but that the girl he liked was coming, Ashley. One girl, Lily that John was good friends with gave him a call.
"Hey I just called to ask if you needed me to bring anything to the party tonight."
"Can you bake anything?"
"Yeah I love to bake. I'll bake brownies."
"Thanks." Do you want to come a little earlier to help me set up."
"Sure"
Alec hung up the phone and checked if anyone else said they were coming. Thats when Alec saw the text from Ashley asking if he needed her to bring anything. Alec gave her a call.
"Hey Alec, did you get my text?"
"Yeah. That's why I'm actually calling. I was wondering if you could come over right now to help me get set up."
"Sure. I'm on my way now."
Alec hung up the phone and turned on the TV. That's when he heard the doorbell ring. It was his best friend Matt along with Lily.
They set out the table cloth and set out the chip bowls. Then the doorbell rang again.
It was Ashley. He welcomed her inside and she helped set up. Both Matt and Lily gave him a funny look because they both knew who he liked.
"Hey Alec we're out of chips." yelled Matt into the other room where Alec and Ashley were setting up.
"Oh ok Ashley and I'll go over to ShopRite to get more."
