Midnight's Past

Chapter Three

Midnight causiosly followed Maplepaw into a clearing where there were two huge rocks. Both of them had moss growing on them and in front of them were small pebbles. Midnight could see Lionstar easily leap onto the stone on the left while a calico she-cat sat down on the rock on the right. The two cats began chatting quietly. Then, Midnight saw Ashclaw sit at the foot of the rock along with Greenberry and Flowerpaw. On the right a ginger tom with a white tail sat in front of the large rock with a black tom. Maplepaw noticed Midnight watching with curiosity. "Water Clan's leader is called Lakestar. Her deputy is Whitewater and the medacine cat is Darkriver."

"Cool. So, what should we do while we're here?"

"Chat with Water Clan. Duh! I feel like I've told you that one thousand times!" Maplepaw teased. She spun around and dashed off to talk to other apprentices, her calico pelt was only a streak of orange as she ran away.

Midnight decided to not follow her around. That'd be creepy, right? Not only that but she'd seem kinda desperate. Midnight walked through the crowd and a tom with short grey fur and green eyes caught her attention. He sat by himself looking bored and almost kinda lost. Midnight walked up to him and smiled. "Hi! I'm Midnight!"

He looked at her and smiled. "I'm Stormclaw. You're name doesn't sound-"

"Familiar? Right? Warriorish? I know. I was actually a rogue but then I ran into Fire Clan and they let me join them."

"They just let you join? No questions asked?"

"Well, I found their lost kit and brought her back to them."

"Oh. That makes more sense."

"Yeah, so how are things in Water Clan?"

"Eh, boring. Although, the new apprentices have been marching around like they own the place. We're gonna have to knock some sense into them one of these days! I swear..."

"Are they here today?"

"Yeah, they're right over... there." He growled out the word "there."

Midnight looked and saw a group of Water Clan apprentices laughing their tails off as Maplepaw yelped, trying to get some thorns out of her pelt. Midnight walked up to them with the most dangerous look in her eye that she could muster. "What is wrong with all of you?" Midnight snarled, she forced herself to not claw their faces off.

She looked away from their laughing forms and helped Maplepaw out of the thorns. One of the apprentices approached Midnight and laughed in her face. "C'mon! Why'd ya ruin our fun?"

Midnight slowly and threateningly turned around to look him straight in the eye. She said in a low, dangerous voice. "You have your whole life to be a jerk. Why don't you take the day off?"

They all stopped laughing and then slowly walked away with worry in their eyes.

"Are you okay, Maplepaw?" Midnight checked her over once more to make sure all of the thorns were gone.

"I'm great after you scared them half to death!" She laughed.

Stormclaw looked shocked.

"What? Can't a she-cat set some apprentices straight?" Midnight meowed with a smirk.

"Sorry, I've just never seen them run away, speachless."

"There's plenty more where that came from."

They all laughed then quieted down once Lionstar began the gathering. "Hello, everyone. It looks like Star Clan has blessed us with a cloudless night! Things are good in Fire Clan. The prey is plentiful and we have a new member of the Clan. Midnight. She was a rogue but she is now joining our Clan. Please, welcome her and treat her like any other Clan cat."
