After another gruelling week it was finally the weekend. Skye raced out of the school doors and waited for Alex, who had agreed to give her a lift home. Skye's dad Blaine was leaving for New York tomorrow and she was kinda feeling a little bummed out about it. She stood leaning on Alex's car bonnet. Her phone pinged from inside her pocket.
Lukus: We still on for tonight? :)
Skye replied quickly.
Skye: Sure are
Just then Alex came into view. He was walking with that boy from Skye's music tech class. They both walked towards the car.
"Hey Skye" Alex beamed "this is Elijah. I told him I'd give him a lift home too"
Skye smiled and reached out her open palm. The two shook hands. "Your in my music tech class" the boy nodded. He was pretty hot, but prettier than Skye.
"You ready for new directions to start up again?" Alex asked both of them as they all piled into the car.
"Sure am" Elijah said staring at Alex in a puppy love kinda way.
Skye stayed quiet in the back seat for most of the journey home. She would only talk if either she was asked a question or had a particular view on the topic of conversation. She was too busy thinking about tonight. Lukus coming over, saying bye to her dad, knowing when he came back he was bringing a little boy.
She hadn't said anything to any of her friends until this moment.
"My dad's are adopting" she blurted out. Interrupting the two boys' conversation.
Alex turned to face her from the driver seat before focusing back on the road. "That's brilliant!" He said smiling into the rear view mirror at her.
"Is it tho?" She said honestly.
"Okay.. why is it not? Your dad's are great with kids. And why not give a kid a shot at life, a kid who's maybe not had the best start" Alex said in a serious tone.
"His names Louis" Skye ignored him "he's 4"
Elijah turned in his seat. "You sound thrilled" he said sarcastically. "My dad's adopted me. They didn't want to use a surrogate for the exact reason Alex just pointed out. And I'm pretty thankful they didn't or god knows what my life would have been like"
Skye thought for a second. "That's amazing. I'm just worried they don't have time to be me and Finn's dad's anymore. This kids young, they barely have enough time already"
Alex interpret her "Skye, would you stop for a second. Your dad's are the most fun, caring, talented, loving and hard working people I know. They will make this work. You and Finn are their everything, nothing's going to change that" he smiled, suddenly realising that Skye wasn't being bad about the situation. She was just scared.
Skye liked Elijah, the rest of the ride home he talked about his dad's and his life. It was scary how similar he was to Skye. He had a little sister Finn's age and loved all the same things that Skye did. He was basically a male version of Skye. Alex stopped right outside Skye's house. "Catch you later" Alex said as he sped away. Skye waved till the car disappeared around a corner. She made her way to her door. But when she looked up from her path, sitting on the stone stairs leading up to her house was Victoria.
