Ryan P.O.V
As I walked across the stage and received my diploma, a huge smile plastered my face. My four years of UCLA were finally over and this was it. I was graduating. While walking off of the stage, I heard two very distinct voices. The voices of my dad and brother.
These two are my support system. Ever since my mom passed away they were the only two I have. Besides my best friend, Tay, they're the ones who've always been there for me. I laugh at my dad, brother, and Tay. I swear black people can be so extra at times but I love them regardless.
After the ceremony was finished, I made my way to them. "BITCH, YOU DID IT," said Tay embracing me in a hug. "Language," my dad said as I chuckled. Tay had graduated last year but has been apart of my family since she was in 8th grade and I was in 7th.
"Sorry pops," she replied. "I'm proud of you baby girl," my dad said now embracing me himself. "Thank you daddy. I just wish she was here," I said while looking up at him. "We all do. I'm pretty sure she's smiling down at you and is as proud as I am." "I needed that." I kissed him on the cheek and hugged him again.
"Where's Isaiah?" I asked. "On the phone with the grinch." Tay replied causing me to roll my eyes. My brother has been dating this girl that does nothing but cause corruption. Me and her actually got into an altercation before. Lets just say that she'll think twice about calling me out of my name.
"Why does he continue to still be with her?" I asked. "He'll learn soon enough." my dad said. "He's to p***y whipped at the moment." Me and Tay's eyes just remained big as we just heard my dad say that.
"DAD!" I screamed a little. "This why you my nigga pops. " Tay said while she gave him some dap. "What Ryan? These young boys don't know real love. It's the ---" "NO. ISAIAH! Come here now." My dad and Tay continue to laugh.
Hanging up the phone, he finally made his way over to us. "Sorry sis, it was Cassie. " "Yea I figured. She always seems to be important even on a big day like this." I said rolling my eyes and rejecting his hug. He smacked his lips and just kept quiet.
Since the start of his relationship with Cassie, me and Isaiah aren't close as we used to be. It hurts because I want my other best friend back. Two years later, he still doesn't notice or even care about me. He's just here because he had to be here.
"No, we not going to start that bickering shit. " my dad said. "This day is meant for Ryan. So Isaiah turn your phone off and Ryan no more slick comments. Am I clear?" "Yes sir. " we replied in unison.
"Before the celebration actually begins, this is for you baby girl. " my dad said while dangling a set of car keys. "WHAT!" I grabbed the keys jumping in midair. "Alright bitch click the alarm, this my car too." Tay said getting excited also. I clicked the alarm and teared up when I saw what kind of car I got. My Nissan had nothing on this.
I gave my dad the biggest hug ever and repeated I love you over a million times. My dad will forever be my rock. I'm so grateful and thankful for him.
