Peridot stared at her phone as if it were going to explode. She hugged the pillow tightly and pressed her face into it with a sigh, why was she doing this when she could just relax and be as anti-social as she wanted in her dorm without anyone questioning it. But then again, it would get more awkward if she didn't do something about her and Lapis' situation, there was no way they would become closer if she didn't do anything about it. Before Peridot could make up any more excuses, she grabbed the phone and typed a rapid message to Lapis;

'Hello Lapis, it's Peridot, would you maybe like to go out and do something today?' Peridot pressed send reluctantly and put the phone slowly face down on the bed with a tired sigh. She never was the first on to initiate conversation with anyone so just this tiny message took a lot out of her. Peridot heard the 'ping' noise and she looked at the phone in astonishment. Peridot scrambled to grab it, abandoning the pillow entirely, and looked at the message.

Lapissed: 'Sure dude, what time? meet outside of the coffee shop?'

Peridot: 'Yeah, and can you get there at four?' the next reply took a minute.

Lapissed: 'Yeah, coolio' Peridot let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding, she looked at her digital watch which read 3:44. Peridot had fifteen minutes to neaten up a bit and walk to the shop, she sat up and puffed out her chest with an expression of determination on her face 'I can do this...'

Peridot stood as stiff as a lamppost outside of the Coffee shop, sweating nervously. it was 4:05 now and Peridot was ready to jump at any excuse to go back to the dorm. But she waited. leaving now and Lapis coming to see that she wasn't there would leave them in a bad way so she couldn't back away now, no matter how anxious she was. Peridot soon heard the tapping of running footsteps and she turned around - only to get the sudden surprising impact of a hug which knocked her glasses askew. Lapis let go so Peridot got a look at what she was wearing, she had a light blue cardigan and a white shirt with darker blue skinny jeans, black boots and a dark blue knit scarf, she also wore light makeup that really complimented her features, especially her eyes. it was a very charming outfit, at least Peridot thought compared to her own which was baggy jeans that were a bit too long for her, large scuffed brown boots and a heavy green turtleneck on which the sleeves were way too long on.

'Sorry' *huff* 'I'm late' Lapis said through heavy breaths, she put her hands on her knees and composed herself.

'I hurried here because i didn't want you to get anxious that i wouldn't come.' Lapis gave an apologetic smile and Peridot nodded.

'It's fine, you must have been far from the shop.'  Lapis brought her hand up and down as she spoke.

'You could say that or you could say that Jasper wouldn't shut up on the phone and i lost track of time.' Peridot laughed a bit.

'Jasper seems to like talking with you.' Lapis grinned.

'She's just a buff Cheeto puff when you get to know her, she's not as intimidating as you think.' Peridot frowned and blushed slightly that Lapis had noticed she was intimidated by Jasper, she liked Jasper and her personality really but... she was so tall, and about as buff as hulk himself. And Peridot was the smallest person that Peridot knew, heck, even Steven was taller than her! Peridot looked down at her feet.

'So uh... what do you wanna do?'

Lapis let out a 'pfft' noise. 'I dunno you tell me, you are the one who asked me to hang out.' Peridot's blush deepened.

'Right, right. Sorry, i'm not used to being the one to ask. Uh- um, there is a park near here, or we could get coffee first since we're already at the Barista...' Lapis clicked her fingers.
