Vivian had spent the past month planning their surprise party, making sure it was kept secret even though that was a particularly hard task if it meant keeping it secret from the weasley twins. They knew everyone and subsequently everything happening in the castle. She had their younger brother Ron act as a distraction, much to his dismay, anytime they got close to finding out and somehow it'd worked out. Fred and George were due to show up in 10 minutes and everything was in place to lead them to the room of requirement.
Big banners hung around the room and balloons covered the ceiling. There was multiple tables full to the brim with their favourite foods and the largest disco ball Vivian had ever seen, held up by some enchantment hermoine had done for her. She was pretty sure most of Gryffindor had showed up by how packed it was and even some from other houses like Cedric Diggory and Luna Lovegood. The music was playing already but Vivian had demanded it be quietly played until the twins turned up and the closer it got to the time the more her heart pounded.
Harry signalled the cue and the music got shut off, everyone moving to the edges of the room and after a grueling 3 minutes they stumbled in. Their faces were confused for a moment before everyone jumped forward and a series of "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"s filled the room, some party popper going off too and a couple of wolf whistles. Vivian was waiting for their response and they both burst out laughing, the largest grins on their faces and a wave if relieve flooded over her before she smiled brightly rushing over to them, "another year older I should start called you guys grandad" she laughed.
"VIVIAN" they both shouted while tackling her into a hug. They'd been best friends ever since they'd met in first year, she was shy at first but they pulled out her of her she'll and now she was possibly the loudest person at Hogwarts.
"Happy birthday guys" she laughed, pulling away before they crushed the breath out of her in the bear hug.
"I cant believe you actually pulled this off you gremlin!" George laughed, shaking his head.
"Call me grandad and I'll make you puke slugs" Fred laughed, looking over to Ron as he did so and they all laughed.
"Alright alright" she gave in, shaking her head some.Vivian didn't get much longer to speak to them before they were bombarded with people giving them presents, birthday wishes and just having general conversations. She wandered off to find herself some food, it felt as if she hadn't eaten all day and she could feel her stomach growling at her. The occasional person would walk past mumbling a 'great party viv!' but other than that she was stood by herself. She didn't mind, everyone else was dancing and she didn't fancy doing so, not until she had a few drinks in her at least.
"Don't be a party pooper" Fred groaned from next to her, he was insisting she should come dance but Vivian was certain it'd go bad.
"I don't dance, I look like a drugged up monkey" she laughed, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Cutest drugged up monkey I've ever seen, now c'mon" he grinned and linked his arm with her, draging Vivian to the dance floor. Her cheeks had flushed a rosy colour at his previous compliment and she was thankful the light wasn't too good at the moment. She'd noticed this recently, Fred had been giving her small compliments here and there but Vivian tended to brush them off. She made nothing of it, assumed it to be friendly as she didn't want to ruin her best friendship by a stupid crush.*Flashback*
"Have you ever had your first kiss?" Fred mumbled from beside her. It was midsummer and there was only about a week left until they broke up for the holidays. Vivian and him were sat under a tree, staring up at the sky and had been trying to make shapes from the clouds for the past 20 minutes.
"No, why?" Vivian's eyebrows furrowed together at the random question. Usually she would've felt insecure over that type of thing but she trusted Fred.
"Do you want to?" He questioned, turning his head to face her. Vivian was rather confused by the question, turning her head to face him and her mind tried to find the right answer. Did he mean in general? Did he mean he wanted to set her up? Did he mean kiss him? Her heart sped up a little but she remained calm as it was, Fred had that effect on her.
"Maybe" she grinned, bringing her arm to poke at him, "you offering?"
"Yes" he stated. There was a matter of fact in Fred's voice that sent a chill down her spine and Vivian's cheeks burst into a bright blush. His eyes had been focused on hers since his answer, waiting for her to reply and for a while she didn't.
"I wouldn't know how-" Vivian mumbled shly, suddenly her normal confidence had shrank to the size of a pea. She wasn't fully sure what was happening or why, but her emotion was controlling her more than logic right now.
"Ill show you" Fred mumbled, a smile on his face and he leaned in slowly, hand moving to brush the hair from Vivian's cheek and place his hand there instead. Their noses bumped slightly causing a smile to break onto Vivian's face before their lips finally connected.Freds lips were warm and gentle, moving against hers with such caution and sparks flew down through Vivians body from her lips. It felt like they were on fire and she began to move her lips back a little, enjoying the sensation but all too soon Fred pulled away.
"Had your first kiss now" Fred grinned, retracted him hand from her cheek while keeping his eyes glued to her. Vivian just nodded, not trusting her voice and turned to look back at the clouds, picking at the grass some,
"That one looks like a dragon" she mumbled.*
Other than that day Fred had never shown interest in her, until recently with the compliments. They'd never spoken about it and referenced it since, almost pretending it hadn't happened but when she thought back Vivian could still feel the way her lips felt like fire.
"Are you even listening" Fred laughed in her ear. This brought her back to reality and she shook her head letting out a laugh, "not even remotely grandpa"
"I thought I said not to call me that"Fred groaned, but there was a smile on his face indicated he found it amusing too.
"You said not to call you grandad and I didn't, I called you grandpa" she smirked, proud of her quick response.
"Cheeky little thing" he grinned, squeezing her side a little as he began dancing, trying to get Vivian to move her body to the music too."So what were you thinking about that was so distracting?" He rose an eyebrow and Vivian's cheeks once again went red but she just shrugged it off. "Oh yknow, how hot you and george are of course" and tried her best not to burst out laughing.
"Im glad you agree upon our hotness" Fred nodded. The music was heavy in the background and Vivian could feel it pulsing through her.
"Do ya really think we're hot though?" Fred tilted his head to the side slightly, seemingly curious. Vivian wasn't quiet sure how to response to such a question so she just nodded a little, "I mean you're alright" she added.
"Cmon we're better than alright" Fred Grinned, stepping closer and Vivian's heart began to speed up. He had a look on his face she'd never seen before which was quiet worrying.
"I mean you're not as hot as me" she shrugged, trying to act as she would in any other situation.
"True, but just admit you find me hot" Fred smirked a little and looped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him swaying with the music. Vivians hands went to his neck in instinct, it wasn't as if they'd never danced like this before, but it had always been strictly friends and this didn't feel quiet like that.
"Id have to find you hot to do that" She smirked a little, deciding to play with his game.
"You do find me hot" Fred scoffed, rolling his eyes playfully
"Prove it" the words fell from her mouth before she could think of the implications."Fine" he smirked, leaning in. She could feel his breath hot on her face, lips millimetres from hers. When their lips finally touched it was as if the universe had come together all at once and that fire from oh so long ago spread over her lips and through her body.
Sure Vivian had kissed other guys since Fred, but none had quiet the same feeling as Fred's lips. They fitted with hers nicely and she always felt safe when with him. She'd never thought of it as a crush and never even considered that he may have one on her, but the thoughts swirling in her already dizzy head were now suggesting such an idea.
This kiss was longer than their last had been, the world was falling apart beneath them yet they stay put. She kept waiting for the moment her would pull away yet he didn't and it made Vivian's heart pound in her chest. His teeth grazed over her bottom lop, asking for permission and without a thought vivians lips parted, her hands moving into his hair. She could no longer hear the music in the background, feel the rush of bodies against her as people danced. It was just her and Fred. His tongue was hot and heavy, clashing with hers as he established dominance. Fred's hands tightened around her waist, pulling Vivian closer pressing their bodies together. After a minute he pulled away, both their breaths heavy and foreheads pressed together.
"See, I knew you found me hot" Fred grinned, and for a moment panic rushed over Vivian. What if that had just been to prove a point? What if it meant nothing to him?
"Oh shut up" she rolled her eyes but there was a hint of a smile on her face, "as if you don't find me hot, I mean you practically begged to be my first kiss" she laughed a little and took a hand to prod him in the chest. Before Fred could come up with a good comeback George had come up behind him, slapping him on the back slightly.
"Finally done it hey? Only took you what? 3 years?" He smirked and Fred glared over at him. "You together now then?" George asked. It was so casual yet so expectant as he looked between them. Vivian's eyes went to Freds in search of an answer, her stomach dropping as the silence began to settle.
"I think so" Fred nodded, the smile returning to his face.
"Idiot" Vivian shook her head, shoving him softly.
