Chapter 1

*KATE'S POV*

*6:45 a.m. June 26*

I woke up to my alarm clock going off, I must have forgot to turn off my alarm clock last night, since yesterday was the last day of school.

My name is Kate Maxwell, I have an older sister Maddie who's 16, a mother Rachelle, and a father David.

I'm 13 years old. I have light brown hair, brown eyes, freckles, and blue braces. Most people say I look like my dad but I just don't see it.

My sister, on the other hand, has my moms looks. She has long brownish/blond hair,green eyes and freckles. We look nothing alike.

As I was walking downstairs to get breakfast, I heard my mom and dad whispering, I stopped and hid behind the wall, and listened to there conversation, 'how are we going to tell them?' As she said that, I asked curiously 'tell us what?' they both stopped their conversation and stared at me.

'Kate..  oh, um goodmorning,' my mom said smiling while clearing her throat, 'I got a job offer in North Carolina..  and uh, I couldn't just let it go, so I took the offer and um, were moving in 2 days. We leave on Saturday..'

  'WHAT! We can't move! Hannah is here and I can't leave her! This cant be happening!' I yelled

'I know, but you'll like it in North Carolina. You and your sister will make new friends.'

'I can't believe your doing this mom!' I yelled and ran to my room.

We couldn't move.. I've lived here my ENTIRE life..

Maddie stood there looking at me and asked me what was wrong. I ignored her and ran to my room and slammed my door.. Hard.

*MADDIES POV*

I woke up to my sister screaming. I got up, put my slippers on, and while I stepped out of my room, Kate ran past me in tears.

I asked her what was wrong but she didn't respond. I walked  down the stairs and asked what was happening. As my mom was telling me we were moving to the OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD,  I knew exactly why Kate was in tears. I couldn't believe we were moving.

'Were gonna start packing tomorrow. We leave in 2 days. The truck will be here on Saturday.' my dad said.

'What does are new house look like?' I asked

'You'll see. I think you both will like it..' he said with a smile.

I don't know why Kate was so upset.. I mean, we can start all over and make new friends..

While Kate was upset, I was kinda, well excited.

*KATES POV*

While I was in my room, my best friend, Hannah texted me on my iPhone 5s.

Hannah: 'Hey (:'

Me: 'Im crying.. my mom got this stupid job offer.. >:'('

Hannah: 'How is that stupid?? You should be happy for her.'

Me: 'This job offer is in North Carolina..'

Hannah: 'OMG NO. :( WHEN ARE YOU LEAVING?!!??!!?!'

Me: 'In 2 days, we start packing tomorrow.'

Hannah: 'CALL ME RIGHT NOW.'

As I pressed call, I heard someone walking up the stairs, coming to my room. I ended the call and texted Hannah.

Me: 'Brb some1's at the door'

seconds later she replied 'K'

The door knob slowly turned..  and my dads head popped in,

'honey, I know this is a big step for you, but your mom got a new and better job in North Carolina.. You'll love it there. Trust me.. you'll make plenty of new friends..you should be happy for your mom.' 

'Im happy for her, but... I can't leave Hannah, she's my only friend..' I said as tears were running down my cheeks.

'You will make new ones at our new house. I promise.. We start packing tomorrow.' my dad replied with a smile.

'I guess I could try to make new friends..' I mumbled
