Chapter 7:

Eleven wasn't sure how long she was in the dark. The silence and dark just made her rock back and forth in the corner. Her fingers still throbbed. She was beginning to think they were broken. She shivered and tried to cover as much as she could either the thin fabric of yet hospital gown. The gown didn't give enough warmth
It had no mercy for the freezing preteen.

“No, Papa, no”, Eleven mumbled over and over like a broken record.

She smacked the side of her head and she let her head fall to the side smacking hard into the dark walls. Eleven found out, that didn't help. It just made her hurt more.

Immediately, the entrance to the room opened revealing her papa. His leather shoes tapped into the room and he kneeled in front of the injured child.

Tsking, Dr. Brenner picked up the child, “what did you do to yourself, Eleven? Why are you constantly making Papa look bad?”

Eleven didn't speak she let a whimper out and winced. She was waiting for her papa to smack her for being weak, but the smack never came. Papa just carried his child out of the room and down the hallway. He led her to the infirmary.

She knew this room really well. Ten, may she rest in peace, made sure she ended up her her a lot as a baby. She also has been prone to have nose bleeds, especially when she used her power. She was afraid of this place, they liked to stab her with needles a lot. Papa always told her it was medicine to make her feel better when she was sick and her vitamins. That meant nothing to the ten year old who was at the receiving end of the needle.

“Dr. Brenner, what can I do for you? Is this 011?”

Papa placed the child on the bed and looked at the infirmary doctor that was sworn into the lab to never reveal what was happening the lab. It was one thing that the mad scientist knew that was needed. Especially with all the children. The children were all lacking nutrition and vitamins from not being outside and their only source of light was artificial. It wouldn't do the man any good if the children are sick.

“It is. It seems she hurt her self trying or avoid discipline, like a very naughty child”, Papa made sure he said and dragged out the last of the sentence, staring directly st the wiggling child.

“I'll fix her up, do you mind stepping out so she relaxes more?”

“Of course, I have places to be, do be sure you lock her into her bedroom”, said papa as he left the doctor to his business.

“Should we get started 011? May I see your fingers? They look very painful.”

The soft voice from the doctor shocked Eleven. No one has ever been so nice to her. She didn't know what to expect as she placed her small hands into the big hands in front of her. The doctor’s dark brown eyes shined at the trust he was now given as he looked over the bruised fingers.

“Good thing, they are just bruised. That's a very good thing. We'll tell Dr. Brenner that he will just have to make sure your hands get a nice ice bath, hm?”

The doctor talked to her with a soft and airy voice. Eleven didn't understand anything the dark-skinned doctor said. She just stared hard at the man and he grabbed her head to start looking at the small bump on her head.

“Okay, looks like a tiny concussion. You have to be careful, little One. Let's go back to your room and lay down. I'm sure your papa is very worried about about you”.

Part of Eleven highly doubt her papa was truly worried. After she cried and no one came to save her. She was worried no body would care anymore. Eleven felt truly alone.
