If you TMI fans know the stories well enough, you'll notice that in Clockwork Angel, Will Herondale fought a Shax demon too. Jace and William are quite alike so I thought to make them more alike in ways possible. Enjoy...

(Jace's POV)
"Get a breath mint, ugly." Jace snapped, smiling.
The Shax howled in annoyance and fury, lunging for Jace again.
Jace avoided it gracefully, feeling bored. He was playing with it, even the demon knew.
It made a horrible guttural shriek of annoyance as he missed Jace. Again.
Jace swung his seraph blade, putting a deep wound in the Shax black brown abdomen as it passed him. Black, foul smelling demon ichor spilled forth, coating the seraph blade. The bright angel blade dimmed and sizzled slightly, weakened by the ichor.
Damn the freaking it, Jace growled in his head, dropping the currently useless seraph blade. A few drops of demon ichor had splashed onto Jace's bare arms and was stinging and burning his skin painfully. He barely noticed it though, adrenaline pumping through his veins.
The moment the blade left his hand, he reached down to grab a dagger he had stashed in his boot but it caught on the sheath. He tried to yank on it but it stayed stuck.
Shit.
A heavy force rammed into him in the chest like a two by four and he was thrown back, flying like a doll on the air.
There was a piercing scream of "JACE!" from the girl he loved most in the world as he was thrown, knocked by the force of the great Shax.
Into the pond.
Freezing cold water enveloped around Jace and he took one last desperate gasp of air before water was above him and all around.
The water was eerily dark and teeth chatteringlyly cold but he could see well enough that the repulsive demon was trying to kill him — drown him or snap off his head, Jace wasn't sure.
For a pond, the water was deep, not shallow like he thought it would be. From his peripheral vision, he saw a few water sprites watching and swimming away.
The demon looked triumphant as Jace squirmed under it. He felt his back hit the muddy, murky bottom, a small but sharp rock digging into his left shoulderblade painfully and uncomfortably.
He ducked the demon's oncoming pinchers and tried to reach his dagger, trying to wiggle it free. His fingers closed around the leather bound hilt and he yanked once, hard.
It finally came free from the sheath and Jace managed a cruel grin at the demon before he shoved it forcefully into the exact spot where it's heart was.
Thank you, Valentine, Jace growled in his head, remembering when the fair haired man had taught him where the hearts were located exactly when he was a younger boy.
Just as the dagger plunged through, a hot flash of pain went through Jace and silver bubbles escaped his mouth as he gasped in shock more than pain.
Before his air supply went flat and dark spots popping up in his sight, Jace saw a cloud of dark liquid floating towards the surface.
His or the demon's, Jace couldn't tell. It was too dark to see but he knew exactly what it was.
Blood.
