If you don't plan on changing the generation of phone or car or whatever electronic, every time it come out I suggest sticking to
°'my blank phone': insert whatever brand or don't insert a brand at all
°'my blank car': insert car brand and varying types like sports or SUV or minivan
If you're trying to portray the character as having a certain status then say
»an old blank phone
»the oldest selling blank
Ex 1: I groaned loudly. Where is my charger. I picked up my iPhone and headed out.
Ex 2 : My mother had the oldest minivan that was still selling. But hey it worked
**this allows the reader to automatically imagine the newer/older version of whatever you mention or imagine what they have.
