Before you write your chapter:
*writer*- "self?"
*self*- "mmm?"
*writer*- "will the reader understand the story without this information about the original information?"
*self*- "yes"/"no"Sometimes a filler chapter especially when writing realistic fiction, to show the normal eveyday life of a character. Without a plot twist or big event in a story.
But what you don't need is 4 chapters on how great the characters life has been going with her new dog. It's completely unnessecary to the story in most instances.
So in stead of writing: " I ate my cheese sandwich sitting on too of a blue plate, underneath my stairwell, wearing orange socks while watching the 34th episode of elementary. On a warm sunny day, though I couldn't see it because I was under a stairwell"
You could instead write: "I ate my cheese sandwich and watched elementary in solitude under my stairwell"
Because so quickly one action could become half the chapter and then you're too tired or out of time for writing and you've gotten nowhere in the story.
Much love,
