My red hair blows in the wind, my green eyes reflecting the setting sun. I'm sitting on my roof watching the sunset, I love doing this it's always so peaceful. I look at the picture in my hand, it's of someone named Light Yagami, the prime suspect.
L didn't waste any time in having me become a part of the case. I was actually the first person for him to call when he decided he needed the help. I was given what he knew so far and told to burn it afterwards. Sounds so much like him.
It's not the first time I've talked to L. I've actually seen him on many occasions. I know who he is, yet he still doesn't know who I am. He could look for my identity all he wants, but lucky for me, any information about me has been erased. My parents taught me well.
Someone walks up to my door, I recognize it as Watari. He doesn't know I'm shadow but he is a family friend. My family has helped him with some of the orphanages.
I race down off of the roof into my house, quickly making my way to the door. Before he can ring the doorbell I swing the door open.
"Ah, Miss Ruby, you must've seen me coming from the roof," he says with a smile on his face.
"Yes like usual. I just love the feeling of the wind from up there, I feel so free"
"Yes well I just wanted to drop this off," he hands me an envelope. "It has some information about the recent case and Mr.Ryuga thought you'd be a great asset to the team"
"Ok, tell him I say hi and I'll see him when we decide to talk more about this," I say and he leaves.
I walk into my room and hop into my bed. Opening the letter a picture falls out. It's the same one L gave to shadow. I read the letter, it says,
Ruby
I know who you are. It took me a while to figure it out but I know you're Shadow. This makes me have great faith that you will help us bring Kira into justice

I smile. I don't need to keep hiding my identity anymore. Knowing he knows who I am lifts a giant burden off my chest. Now I just need to get in touch with him. Actually I think he'll get in touch with me. However, I've decided to give up my persona as Shadow. Im done with everything I've been put through, I'll only work with my friends in need.
I decide to get some sleep before I start my mission. I'm going to need the rest. Knowing Ryuga he'll keep me up all night going over information and working on the case. Heh, last time we pulled an all nighter for another case, I ended up having a sugar crash by morning.
