Objective #16: Love or Truth

Am I going to stay with him? I know for sure he's Kira, but what should I do? I could tell the others what Light told me and go against my heart or I could lie to them and say I don't have any new information.

Do I follow my heart and save Light or my brain and tell the truth?

The others continued with the investigation after Ryuga's death. Rem disappeared, along with the notebook. I was keeping to myself most of the time, but if I had something to add I would speak up then go back to being silent.

The killings haven't stopped, but I can't be certain if it's Light causing them or not. He seems to be doubting himself ever since we talked.

"Ruby come here. I don't think it's safe for you to be on the case anymore"

Oh no he didn't. Just because he's my boyfriend doesn't mean he can do this. "Why? You know what this means to me. And it means a lot more now that Watari and L are gone. I can't leave this. I need to avenge their deaths," I say, slowly getting quieter towards the end.

"That doesn't mean I want you risking your life"

I shake my head and walk away. "You don't determine the things I do and do not do Light"

I walked to a park. There was one nearby the Yotsuba building. Far away from Light. Sitting on a bench my thoughts race.

He can't do this. I love him but it isn't fair. Light, Kira, why did they have to do this? Why couldn't it have been someone else. If Light wasn't Kira it'd be fine. No. The universe doesn't make my life easy. It never has.

"Excuse me, Ruby we need your help"

Matsuda was panting. He must've ran the whole way here. "Why do you need my help? Just ask Light, he seems to want to take over"

"No, it's about Light"

Oh no. I open my eyes wide, Matsuda notices and starts heading in a different direction. I sprint back to the building. Stupid Light, you're going to get yourself killed.

"What's going on?" The lights were off when I got there.

Why?

"Aahhhh!"

Light? No, one of the other agents. Right?

The scream is heard again throughout the building. I speed over to where it came from. What the hell is going on here? The scream, again. It came from my room. I try to open my door but it's locked. Kick it down, it can be replaced. That's what I do.

Light was standing with the book in his hand. There was a criminal lying on the ground screaming in pain.

"Light?" I say almost in tears. Stop crying, no weaknesses, especially in front of the enemy.

"I'm sorry Ruby. It has to be done. And I'm the only one who can do it"

He writes another name in the book. It was my name. My fake name. You think I'm that stupid to use my real name? I still need to play it out though.

I pretend to die. Light seemed to be satisfied and gave me one last kiss before I'm completely 'dead'. I stare at him, shock in my eyes. He looks sad and hurt. Was that supposed to be a kiss goodbye?

Does he really love me or was it all a lie?
