I laugh a little and say something before he can speak. "I guess I should say I can see him. And I know he's a shinigami"

He looks at me shocked and angry then seems to understand why. "So when you knocked into me, your hand brushed the book and now you can see him?"

I nod my head yes, my hair covering my face. He sighs, looks at Ryuk evilly and continues, "what else did he tell you," he says in a scary tone, even though it didn't scare me.

I act scared and say, "All he said was his name is Ryuk. He's a shinigami and I can only see him because I touched the book"

Light looks to Ryuk to figure out if I was telling the truth and Ryuk nods while eating an apple. Light seems to buy it and continues on our earlier conversation.

"Anyway where do you come from?"

"U.S," I need to keep the answers short he's already suspicious enough of me.

"Do you live with your parents?"

I shake my head no. What are you trying to get at?

"I mean, do you have a family"

I shake my head no again, my hair covering my face again. He puts one arm around my shoulder and brings my face to his chest with his other hand. I wrap my arms around him and his head is rested on my shoulder. I can feel his chin move. He's smiling. He thinks he has my trust, he thinks I'm on his side.

"I'm sorry," he says in the worst sad voice ever. Like does he even know how to put emotion into his voice? "I'm here for you. If you ever need me I'm here"

We finish the hug and continue talking. Still not answering in long answers he seems to be satisfied with the information he received. My turn to ask the questions.

"How did you get that book?"

He doesn't answer.

"I'm sorry, my curiosity got the better of me"

"No it's fine," he cuts me off. "I found it at my high school"

"Do you have a dad? I know you have a loving family, but I didn't see your father"

"He's a police officer so he's normally not home for most of the time"

I look at him sadly, feeling bad for him. Good thing I took those acting courses, they help a lot in undercover cases. Then something pops into my mind. His father is Soichiro Yagami, the chief that's working on the case with us. How ironic.

After satisfying my need for information I leave Lights house and head back to my own. I decide not to tell Ryuga about the notebook, not yet anyway. He would not believe me, he would think I went crazy and take me off the case.

I'll keep it to myself for now, but I need to start connecting the dots.
