Chapter 11: Christmas eve

Tilly/ N1: kenny! Who loves him?

The bells jingle against the tinsel. Bright green blends in well with the Christmas red as the Acker-Smith household goes up in bright colours especially for the holiday season. Eren... the poor boy doesn't understand.

"What is Levi's mummy doing?" Eren asks Levi as he watches Kuchel decorate the tree.

"Shes decorating a tree for Christmas so santa will come and give us all presents and other bullshit" Levi explains with no enthusaiasm.

"Oh Levi dont be such a teenager" kuchel tuts and picks Eren up in her arms "we make the house look nice for santa but Levi is in charge of the decorations and so we have a different theme every year with everything matching" kuchel laughs.

"This years were being classical" Levi explains.

"Since its his birthday aswell we want to make sure he has the house his way" kuchel says "but santa will still come. He may even come for you, Eren" she laughs.

Erens mother and father told him of Santa Claus but they never dressed up their house for him. He left the gifts in Erens room and he would play with them alone while his parents got in some extra work.

"I've never seen a house so pretty before." The boy says marvelling the decorations.

"Well then. Want to put the star on top?" Kuchel asks. She passes Eren the silver star and Eren gasps in delight.

Kuchel lifts him up high and he puts the star on top with a small giggle.

"Beautiful." Kuchel smiles and places him down. "You two should get ready. Uncle Kenny will be coming soon."

"Uncle kenny! We'll get to meet his finance!" Levi looks semi excited about this "come on, Brat ill help you get dressed out of your pyjamas. Tommorow is Christmas and we'll have a christmas dinner for that okay?" He says picking eren up.

"Christmas dinner? Is that a special dinner?" Eren asks to which Levi nods and begins describing the meal. Succulent turkey, juicy roast chicken. And a dessert of all yummy treats from cookies and cakes to salads and cheeses. All this talk makes Eren excited and he clings onto Levi happily and running his mouth about how excited he is. This will be Eren's first official Christmas with a family. A family who will join together for a while day.

Eren gets dressed into some jeans that make his small little legs stand out and levi puts a band top he had bought Eren. A band that Eren has no idea who they are or what they are. It's similar to Levi's band shirt. Dark. And offensive. But Eren doesn't care simply because he doesn't understand.

"Perfect" Levi nods his aproval having turned Eren into a mini him. he smirks and puts in dark green stretches to match the Christmas theme.

"Come on. They'll be arriving soon" Levi says bending down so eren can sit on his shoulders.

"Who is Kenny? What's he like?" Eren asks as he climbs Levi's back to sit firmly on top."

"Well" Levi starts standing up and holding onto Erens legs that are dangling down his shoulders "he's um... hard to explain. I'll get you to meet him tonight. He lives a while away so he will stay the night tonight and have Christmas with us tommorow. Stay the night again then leave boxing day morning. He'll most likley be to drunk to drive home Christmas night anyway"

"Drunk? Dad says only crazy fools get drunk and then get themselves killed." Eren recalls, threading his hands through Levi's hair. He admires how soft each strand is, and begins playing with the raven locks.

"Well i hate your dad so i don't care what he says. Kenny is ten times better than your Dad" Levi explains his opinion, frowning.

Eren stays silent for a while and leans his head on Levi's. He doesn't speak for the entire trip downstairs. Instead, he broods at the thought of his dad.

"Eren" Levi reaches a cookie up to the boy as he walks through the kitchen and takes one before there is a knock at the door and Levi looks up in attention.

"KENNY!" he holds onto eren and quickly dashes to the door swinging it wide open and seeing his beloved uncle with a tall red headed man

"Brat. Its been a while" Kenny nods to Levi who hugs his uncle only to be pushed off like Levi does to Eren.

"Woah woah. No hugging" he says and the man beside him chuckles.

"Sorry, Uncle. Come inside" Levi says stepping aside warching the two quite contently. Oh how he loves his dick head of an uncle. With no father Levis father figure was always his uncle.

"Ah. The smell of Christmas.  And a fuck brows money wasted on feeding his own fat gob." Kenny sighs breathing in the essence if the house.  "So what are ya, brat? 8? 9 now?" He asks with a small smirk. He knows Levi's actual age, but he likes to fool around with Levi.  He never gets to see his nephew unless it's Christmas so to Kenny,  Levi never really moved up from age 7.

"Im sixteen this year, stupid" Levi snorts "soooo..." he says glancing to the side at the man who came in wearing a ring on his finger "who's this?" Levi smirks.

"This, my dear boy, is Adian." Kenny grins, linking his hands with the red haired man.

Adian chuckles and squeezes Kenny's hand before bowing his head at Levi.

"Pleased to meet ya lad." He says with a good ol' grin.

Levi nods and goes to say something before Kenny is almost knocked off his feet when kuchel wraps her arms around her big brother
"Ugh!! No hugs Kuchel for walls sake!" Kenny gasps but the woman only squeezes him tighter.

"It's good to see you, brother."

'Everyone is so happy and friendly...' Eren thinks as he watches from Levi's shoulders. 'They're all talking to each other and greeting people with smiles... they're hugging each other...'
It's nothing that Eren has ever seen before.

Kuchel and Kenny laugh and push and shove eachother before Kuchel finally gets off and is introduced to Adian who laughs in a thick irish accent and introduces himself.

"Want me to make tea, Mum?" Levi asks.

"That would be lovely, darling." She smiles at him as she continues socialising with her brother and his fiancè.

Funny. How although everyone was friendly, no one bothered to introduce Eren, nor acknowledge his existence other than levi who looks up and him with a twinkle in his eye before continuing to walk to the kitchen "you alright? You seem a bit quiet".

"It was never like this at home... it's different. That man didn't look at me either. I almost feel like he didn't want to..." Eren frowns. "But you seem happy. So I'm happy too." He quickly adds on.

"I'll introduce you to him soon. He wants to catch up with mum. He never sees her beause of Erwin. I want you to meet with him later" Levi pulls Eren from his shoulders and sits him on the bench and turns on the kettle

"Okay... you must really love your uncle. You hugged him." Eren says. He's never seen Levi jump for a hug like that before. It amazes him really because he didn't think Levi was that kind of person.

"I do. Hes the only one i ever looked upto as a kid. Other than mum. i got muns cleanibg habbits" Levi says giving Eren a hot cocoa and putting everyone elses on a tea tray.

Eren hums in thought, staring into the depths of the cocoa.
"...I really love you..."

"Eren please stop saying that" Levi sighs pulling him down off the bench "come with me. They'll all be in the lounge. You can come meet Kenny properly"

Eren gets pulled to the lounge where everyone is happily catching up, aside from miserable Erwin who is having trouble coping with the gay couple in his presence.

Levi places the tea tray down and hands out tea to everyone then looks at Eren who is hiding at the door out of sight "hey, Uncle Kenny i want you to meet, Eren" Levi says
