Sorry for the late upload!! Been very busy. Anyways, I hope you like it! Please comment, vote and spread around :3  I made up the District outfits here by the way - except for District 12's - so it doesn't really correspond with the movies. The interview outfits correspond with the books, not the movies

Chapter 15 - Prepare For The Worst

I clicked on the opening ceremonies first. I rested my daggers on the coffee table. The video loaded and the Capitol anthem began to play. Carriages were pulled by horses trained so well they didn't need reins to lead them. Logan sat on the armrest of my thick velvet seat and watched the screen in my hands with undivided focus. We watched the first District go by. The tributes - Glimmer and Marvel, I think they were called - were adorned in jewels and everything that sparkles. They were the luxury district after all. Two, Three and Four passed. I was quite stunned by District Five's outfit. They were the Power District. The girl was dressed in a short skirt that seemed like a silver cone that hangs to her knees. Metal rings surrounded her skirt and on the metal rings were silver orbs. She looked like she was stuffed inside an atom - like the ones we actually bothered to learn about at school. It was rare not to have a topic to do with coal so I actually listened that time. - and she had the same formation of rings surrounding her hair which had been formed into some sort of tower and drizzled in silver spray. The boy tribute had the rings around his arms and one around his torso as a belt. They were both dressed in a chrome-silver kind of hue.

"The clothes people come up with ..." Logan muttered, just loud enough for me to hear.

We watched the tributes from Six, Seven, Eight and Nine and my attention began to waver. I stared into the flames at the fireplace for a while. The different array of reds and yellows and how it danced on the singed wood with grace. Logan recaptured my attention with an pleased exclamation. I looked back to the screen. Thresh and Rue were on the chariot lead by horses with a wheat-looking kind of colour. They outfits were somewhat interesting. They were both wearing clothes that seemed to be woven out of every colour grass and wheat could be. It was a simple harmony of gold, green, and brown that complemented each other greatly. They both had golden swirling patters on their skin and was ornamented by the occasional picture of the stalk of wheat and the feather like formation at the top of each stalk. Rue's hair was curled into minuscule ringlets that only reached her shoulders but it was adorned with what looked like apples and oranges. It was a fascinating choice of clothing but what really struck me were the faces I had been constantly worried for. Katniss and Peeta were dazzling. Logan even let out a low whistle of awe, lost for words. They were wearing a simple black unitard but their capes ... brilliant. They were alight in an artificial sort of fire because it didn't seem to burn them. They wore headdresses that seemed to be on fire too. The firelight made their smiles glow. Katniss was waving and grinning to the crowd. It was amazing to see her smile in such a carefree and untrammelled way. She had never done so before. She began to blow kisses to the crowd and Peeta was giving everyone a good-natured wave. Roses were thrown at their carriage and Katniss swerved to pick it up long enough for me to see them both holding hands. I gaped at them with a hint of a smile. Not only was I happy for Peeta - who had liked Katniss very much for an extremely long time - but that gesture brought hope to my heart. The Games were a fight to the death but there were my friends, holding hands to signify a sort of bond between them. It was a sign of rebellion. That's how I saw it even if they didn't realise. They were defying the Capitol's rules to hurt each other by supporting each other through the chariot ride and through the rest of the games. Amazing. The parade had finished but Logan and I stared at the screen long after the video had finished.
