Chapter 13 - The Rebellion Starts
"Begin."
I resumed my training on the icy floor. My backflips would be useless on their own but I used the slippery floor to my advantage. I pushed off against a rock and skidded against the ice, throwing my knives like ninjas would throw their shurikens at a target's heart. As one cardboard cutout began to fall, I grabbed it around its neck and pulled myself around it, flinging myself towards the other target and picking up both my knives in the process. I ran up a wall and kicked off with a backflip like I did in the last round and smashed two targets with the hilt of my knife as I passed them. Three targets were at the back of the class room. I threw my knifes like frisbees at the outer two and grabbed knives as I skidded towards it. I elbowed the third target but flipped off of a wall to stab the third. I pushed off of the wall with my feet and skidded across the floor on one knee, slicing target that popped up in front of me.
"Missy!" I heard a piping voice shout from behind me.
"Pause." I said and the room turned back into its original state, bar the cardboard cut-outs that we're still standing. Logan and Annabi were standing by the door, their eyes wide with impressed expressions.
"How're you doing, ninja?" Logan asked with a smirk.
"Yay!" Annabi piped in, "I have superpowers because I can see a ninja!"
I laughed. "Thanks for coming guys."
"Anytime. What's up?" Logan answered for him and Annabi who was bouncing on the spot.
"Right. Do you hate this?"
"Hate what?" Annabi asked.
"This. The Hogwarts Games," I pulled my long, blonde hair back and showed my slowly healing gash. "The abuse. The disrespect."
Logan and Annabi nodded in silent reply.
"Well I have a way to stop it. A rebellion."
"But District Thirteen got blown up by the Capitol because they rebelled. That's the whole reason why the Hunger Games started."
"But the Capitol had the upper hand with their gunships and bombs. With the right training, we can get that upper hand. We can take them, guys, I know we can."
"Well, who's gonna do the training?" Annabi asked.
"Us. You, me, Logan. I'll have Rose and Teddy and Professor Longbottom help as well." Logan's eyes brightened at the mention of Rose. I continued my motivational rigmarole. "We need to stop Snow. He's ruined Panem," I turned to throw a knife at an unsuspecting cardboard polar bear and watched the knife pierce it's neck,"And he's ruined this school." I threw the other knife at a cardboard seal, killing it if it had a life. "What do you think he's going to go after next?" I asked with my back still to them, fists clenched. A fire had sparked within me and it couldn't be tamed. Logan rested a hand on my shoulder and spun me around. Annabi ran to give me a hug. I smiled and returned it and looked up at Logan who had the same fire in his eyes as I did.
"We'll help you, Artemis." Logan said, using my full first name for the first time since I've known him. I put my hand in front of me, palm facing the wooden floor.
"So you're in?" I asked, grinning. Logan kept one hand on my shoulder and the other one on top of mine. Annabi rest hers on top of ours.
"Hell yeah, we are." Annabi and Logan said in unison.
"Thank you." I pulled them both into a quick hug and ran to get my knives. "I'll continue my training. Logan, pull any of your other friends away and ask them if they are interested in joining. Once you've told them, swear them to secrecy and warn that they shall be severely punished if they reveal anything to anyone else. I'll ask Professor Longbottom for a place to train. Find me before dinner so I can tell you the location. Annabi, your mother was part of something called Dumbledore's Army wasn't she?" she nodded. "Well, owl her for a list the names of the sons and daughters of anyone else she knows that was part of that and goes to this school. Tell her to have them send the fake Galleons as well. You need to get hers too. We need everyone."
