FUCKING MILLIONAIRES, THAT IS how they got all the girls, by inviting them over to places like this. I mean, I knew the Davis' had money, a lot of it, and I was expecting a great place, but it was still a house in the woods, so how much could it be? I guess I was wrong, just by looking outside I could imagine how over the top it would be on the inside.
"Oh. My. God!" Stephanie said with almost half her body out of the window. "I can't believe we are staying for the weekend in a place like this!" She sounded like she never went to five stars' hotels or like she didn't live in a fucking mansion. Because she wasn't like Aly and me, she had money such like all the rest of the kids that went to our school. But she didn't brag about it or even enjoy dressing herself in clothes that costed more than a month rent of my house. She was really simple and that's why I was friends with her, if she would have been shallow and selfish, like most of the spoiled girls at our school I don't think neither Aly or I would like her.
"Yeah, I can't either!" Aly agreed. I nodded. I seriously didn't know what to expect of this weekend. What Aly didn't get was that the fifth wheel thing was just an excuse for why I wasn't keen on coming here. The real reason was that I didn't want to have to watch Austin and Aly touching and kissing, or even holding hands. God I was in so deep. I had to get a grip now. I can't allow myself to think about her like that for the whole weekend. That was a more doable goal than never thinking about it again. I just had to get over this weekend and then I could go back to my hole of self-pity and moping about not being with Aly. Yes, that's it. I could do it. Easy pie.
I killed the engine of the car and we got out. I stretched and the headed to take the bags out of the truck, clearly, I was on valet duty, since the girls had gone straight to the front door. Jackass wasn't even waiting for her by the door. Heck, just the fact that he didn't even bother on driving her pissed me off. If I were him, I would never leave her side.
Don't go there, Jared. Don't.
They waited at the door for longer than common curtesy for someone to answer, it actually gave me a teeny tiny bit of hope, maybe he had something better to do and wasn't even coming. Oh that'd be good. Too good to be true, cause he finally opened the door. Holding a pool stick in one hand and a drink in the other. I guess drinking was starting early this evening. Wouldn't say no for a drink or two, tonight. Maybe it would help me succeed my goal set for this weekend.
"Hey sexy" He said as he leaned in to kiss her. Jealousy aroused inside me, suddenly I wasn't thinking about the fact of him kissing her, I was seeing it.
"Hi" She said with a grin on her face. Guess she was happy to see him.
"I'm sorry it took me this long to answer the door, but we are in the middle of a pool game and I just had to finish this move." He explained. Oh, how nice of him, a pool game was more important than she was.
Fuck, I need to let it go. I'm already losing my promise to myself, only two minutes after I made it. I'm a real winner.
"That's okay, we just got here, and by the way, this place looks amazing Austin." She said.
"Just wait to see the inside, it rocks." I didn't know what he loved more, his money or himself. Hard to tell sometimes.
"Yeyy!" Said Stephanie when she invited herself in.
I grabbed the bags out of the car and followed them. God, what the hell was inside their bags? They were extremely heavy, and I'm a musician, not a football player, running doesn't magically grow muscle in my arms so I struggled to carry them inside.
He was still in the door when I got there.
"Need any help man?" He asked, I didn't miss his insult there.
"I'm good." I lied. But I wasn't about to lose my pride in front of him. I mean losing it in front of Aly, all good with me, but with this idiot? No thank you.
"Hey Jared I completely forgot about the bags, you didn't need to bring them all the way up here." She said as I dropped them to the floor next to them.
"It's fine, but god, why did you need to bring this much stuff?" I told them pointing at their bags.
"A girl need her clothes." She lifted her shoulders, as like saying, she couldn't help it.
"Hell yeah." Stephanie said and then they did what could qualify as the lamest high five in history. "This place is really awesome Austin, thank you so much for inviting us!" She said as she went to investigate the rest of the house.
And in that moment, I took it all in. The wooden outside was a mere charade, cause for much as they tried, this place didn't look like a lake house at all. It looked like another luxurious mansion to me. This room was huge, to the right they were some delicate furniture which seemed to be useful only for show. This was only the entrance hall, I knew this considering Stephanie's place had one too. To the left, they were big glass doors that lead to what I would think was the dining room probably. To the front there was another big area, that had some couches pointing to a tv the size of a classroom's board. I. Wasn't. Exaggerating. Didn't even know they made them that big. This room also had the pool table, where Scott was hitting some balls. Didn't even acknowledge me. Great guy that one too. Next to it there was a ping pong table and a big bar at the back. Hanging from the wall were two dartboards. Finally, something I could have a chance in winning. I used to play with my dad all the time. Okay, so this room? Not so bad.
The girls came in from another door and I catch a glimpse of a huge bathroom. Honestly, nothing in this house was on normal size.
"Well, Austin, where are we sleeping?" Stephanie asked him.
"Here let me show you." He said and started walking out of the room.
"Let us grab our bags first." Aly said heading to her bag. Austin took her hand stopping her.
"Don't. Let me, I'll do it." He said.
"You don't need to that, they are really heavy." She said.
"No problem for me baby." He said and lifted them from the floor as they weighted nothing. Dude was so full of himself. Aly giggled and stared at his arms. Fucking ass must live in his private gym every day of the week, or maybe he was on steroids, who knew?
We followed him to the second floor. It was a hall with like six doors or something.
"Steph, you can sleep in here." He said as he opened the door of one of them.
Her mouth fall opened. Of course, the room was this big. It had a not-shockingly enormous bed and two very tall glass doors that led to a huge balcony.
"It's awesome!" She shouted as she jumped in the bed. "Thank you!" She told him.
"It's nothing." He said. Then he turned to me.
"Holt, you can sleep across the hall." He said. I nodded and headed towards the door in front of this one.
As soon as I opened the door I laughed out loud. Thankfully nobody heard me. This bedroom was nothing like the other one, as it was on the other side of the hall it didn't have a balcony and the bed was half the size. The walls were painted on a light blue and covered with these stickers of the forms of dinosaurs that glowed in the dark. This must be his little brother's room. I didn't mind at all, because as I said nothing about them was simple, so the room was twice as big as the one at home.
I left my guitar and my bag on the bed and left the room. I didn't ever go anywhere without my guitar, and I figured I would needed it to let off some steam this weekend.
"Bathroom is at the end of the hall, it should have everything you need, towels soap, that kind of stuff." He explained to Steph.
She nodded.
"Now baby, let me show you the master bedroom" He told her while he put his hands around her waist and placed a kissed on her cheek. "It is on the next floor." He added and started walking towards the stairs, one hand with her bag and the other still around her waist.
Great.
Just great.
