Chapter 7: Melissa

Nevaeh's POV

"Hey, you're Nevaeh, right?" Melissa McBride asked, sitting down next to me at lunch.

"I am." I said.

"I just realized that I've never really had the chance to say hi to you and get to know you. It's always nice getting another girl on set."

"Yeah, I've been wanting to talk to everyone more, but I've only made friendships with Norman and Andy so far."

"So, tell me a little bit about yourself."

"Well, I'm from Texas and I've been passionate about makeup since about the seventh grade. When I was a sophmore, I tested out some SFX makeup for a Halloween costume and fell in love with it. So, I joined theater and became the makeup artist for the department. I won many awards and did many design contests. I graduated high school and attended a cosmetology school where I got my certificate and applied like crazy to places. I was working at a beauty salon as the makeup artist, but my dream was to do makeup for TV and movies. I saw a chance to work for this show but I never thought I would actually get hired. So, I'm basically living my dream right now, which not a lot of people can say so I guess I'm lucky."

"Well, at least you're passionate about your career." She smiled. We talked for a while during lunch, getting to know each other.

"What can you tell me about Norman and Emily?" I asked.

"Oh, those two were inseparable while she was on the show. They had a friendship from day one, and we all placed  bets on whether they were going to get together or not. Even though there was quite a large age gap, you could tell they had feelings for each other."

"Dammit, I knew it." I cursed under my breath.

"What?" She asked and I just sighed, putting my head into my hands. "Do you like Norman?" She asked and I nodded. "Oh. Well you don't have to worry about Emily if that's what you're getting at."

"Why is she back? How long is she going to stay?"

"No one knows. She comes back to visit often for various periods of time. At least once a season, she shows up."

"I wouldn't have such a problem, but it feels like I'm invisible. Norman can't talk about anything besides Emily and vice versa. I'll be talking with Norman, and then Emily walks in and I become irrelevant. It's really pissing me off. Plus, I think something happened between Norman and Andy, so now Andy is avoiding me. My only friend left is Tzvia and she's busy all the time."

"Well, now I'm your friend. I'm sure Lauren and Steven would love to talk to you. Chandler can be a bit introverted and odd, but he's a good kid. I'm sure the crew would love to talk to you too. Norman and Andy aren't the only people in this field, Nevaeh. Just branch out a bit and talk to others. I'm sure once Norman realizes that you're not around as often, he'll come to his senses."

"Thank you." I smiled.
