"If we want to avoid the enemy, our only choice is to cross into the Wolfskin territory..."

You narrowed your eyes and tapped your chin in thought. You were supposed to be giving the High Prince of Hoshido your utmost attention, yet the words which flowed from his lips went in one and ear and out the other.

"I won't lie, this path is extremely dangerous. But at this point, I really don't see any other option."

You leaned back in your chair; the wooden structure creaking slightly in response. Then you crossed your leg over the other, folded your arms, and tilted your head slightly to the side. Your brows furrowed and your lips were slightly pursed. The look on your face indicated you were in deep concentration. Your eyes, however, seemed like they were staring at something far, far away - something only you can see.

"I agree," Corrin sighed from the spot next to you. "I knew that crossing into Nohr territory would be risky, but it almost seems like they want us to head in that direction."

"It appears so," Ryoma replied back grimly.

The swordmaster furrowed his brow in thought. He crossed his arms over his chest; the movement causing his amour to produce a quiet sound.

A tense silence settled upon the strategy meeting. Corrin stood up at some point and wandered over to the large map sprawled across the table. Ryoma joined his younger sibling, and together they began to murmur quietly.

That should've been your cue to join them too. You didn't just come here to listen and watch. You were invited to this meeting because you were a very important figure in the Hoshidan army. You were, however, too preoccupied with your own thoughts to notice the two siblings beckoning for you.

"[Y/N]?"

Your eyes seemed to regain their focus; sharpening at the sound of your name.

You had returned from your daydream.

"Is everything okay? You haven't said a thing this whole time." Corrin gently asked; voice laced with concern.

"Yes, what's the matter [Y/N]?" This time it was Ryoma who had addressed you. "Please, if you think there is a problem with our next move, speak up. The life of the entire army hangs upon our shoulders."

Your gaze trailed over towards the High Prince and remained fixed on him in silent scrutiny.

Ryoma raised an eyebrow in confusion. He waited patiently for you to say something; to address what was wrong with his idea. Yet you remained absolutely silent. Your gaze seemed to harden and your pupils began to dilate.

The High Prince recognized that look, and nothing spoke louder to him than your actions. The far-off gaze... The sudden harsh stare... He knew it all too well.

You were criticizing him.

Ryoma sighed and dropped his shoulders in defeat. "I knew it. It's futile. It seems like fate isn't on our side this time."

You leaned forward this time, your chair moaning in protest beneath your weight. You remained completely oblivious to the noise, however - your mind fixed on the situation at hand.

Ryoma snuck a glance in your direction. If anything, your stare had only intensified ten-fold. He hated to admit it, but you were the only person who could ever get on his nerves. As firstborn, Ryoma had been pressured with countless expectations. Luckily for him, he was a hard worker and a quick learner, and he easily lived up to those expectations. As a result, he lived the majority of his life bathing in glorious praise from his success.

That is until you came around.

You were intelligent, hard-working and ambitious. And you completely shattered Ryoma's sense of accomplishments. You were critical of everything he did, judging him for anything and making him second guess everything.

At first, Ryoma absolutely despised you. But over time, he began to realize how much your presence meant to him. You might've been a rather distant character, but your cold words never stemmed from a bad place. The High Prince realized that you didn't come into his life to ruin him, but to help him become an even better ruler.

You had opened his eyes to a new world. You had shown him, in his budding youth, that the world was not just a happy place filled with good people. There were bad people lurking around. There was more than just one side to everything.

"[Y/N]?" Ryoma called out to you again. "W-What is it?"

He gritted his teeth, and unconsciously balled his hands into fists. Whatever was racing through your head was rather important. And it was evident it had been weighing on your mind for a while now. Ryoma just wished you would talk more and think less - especially in a situation like this.

You were seriously stressing him out.

The expression on your face suddenly changed.

Ryoma barely had time to decipher it before you suddenly stood up, sending your chair crashing to the ground. Your sudden movement caused both the Hoshidan royals to jump in their skin.

"Lord Ryoma!" You suddenly cried out while sharply pointing a finger in his direction.

The two siblings jumped and spun around, looking for whatever had you in such a state. When they realized there was nothing hidden in the fabric of the tent, they quickly turned back around. Your finger remained in the air, sharply pointing. So they dropped their gazes on the table, desperately searching for something - anything.

"Gods...!" Ryoma clenched his teeth in frustration. Then he sharply looked at you and said, "for once can you just say something!"

Your lips parted, and the words that flowed out left the siblings in a state of stupor.

"You look like a lobster!"

"W-WHAT?!" Ryoma practically roared, his entire being shaking at your blunt remark.

Ignoring the flustered feeling building within him, Ryoma suddenly leaned forward and slammed his hands down against the table; startling Corrin.

Ryoma couldn't believe the nerve of you. This whole time you had him feeling anxious about what you were going to say about his strategy proposal. And yet... Yet the whole time you had your head in the clouds, thinking about something else! Thinking about him-

Ryoma cut his thoughts off right there. The frustration he had been feeling earlier suddenly vanished into nothing. Instead, some foreign feeling began to bubble from within the depths of his chest; spreading through the rest of his body.

"Haha!" You laughed, your hands holding to your stomach.

Ryoma knew he should've been mad; furious even. But he wasn't. If anything, the sound of your laughter and the delightful look on your face made him feel happy.

Why wasn't he mad? Why did he find you suddenly adorable? Why did-

Oh. That's why.

Ryoma suddenly felt his internal temperature increase tenfold. His hands started feeling clammy and his skin began to take on a reddish hue. He was sure his entire face and ears were burning by now.

You continued to laugh, completely unaware of Ryoma's flustered state.

"Lord Ryoma, you're so weird! See, now look even more like a lobster!"
