Chapter 3

Again, not much happened over the next week, but Charlie continued to wake me by beating me. I had gotten tired of his constant jives at the Immortals. I decided to put him in place. One day as he woke me up with the usual strikes I leaned over, starting to get out he continued to strike me, something other than his usual loathing driving him. As he brought down a fifth strike I snapped. I grabbed the staff, swung off the bed and slammed it into his side he cried out in pain, I swung again into his thigh, I felt the bone snap but no longer cared, I could still feel my own bruises formed by his strikes, some had been left for days at a time. I swung again, this time at the other leg’s ankle joint, after hearing that crack, I started swing at him randomly, but I never hit his head, I heard him whimpering and crying. I kept swinging as I thought, ‘No, I won’t be kind to you! I won’t end your life! You will go through the pain!’ I stopped just as suddenly as I had started. I looked around the room, 38, 41, and the other two guards were staring at me with a mix of fear and awe. I took Charlie’s belt, strapped the staff to it, unstrapped the pistol, still in its holster, and threw it at him. It hit him on his side, causing another yelp of pain, and skittered across the floor about 6 feet away. I dressed out in the formal black uniform and steel toed combat boots. I then grabbed my two pistols, strapping on the Glock with a shoulder holster, and I clipped the Luger onto the belt. I heard a whimper come from Charlie, I looked down at him with a sneer, “Get up, Charlie. Don’t make me wait on you.” I kicked him in his side, causing another round of curses and screeches of pain. I then stalked out of the room. I heard 38 and 41 put on there clothes and rush out to follow me.

“Did you really just do that?” 38 had a look of fear on his face of terror. He glanced behind us looking for the other guards. “What if they come after us?”

“Let them come, we’ll tear them apart. I’m two or three times as strong as 27. And he just destroyed Charlie.” 41 stated right back smacking me on the back as congratulation.

“But what are we going to do about the Director?” 38 asked again, still looking scared. His face growing paler when three EMTs came sprinting down the hall going towards our room.

“He deserved it. That’s it. The Director won’t care. Hell, he will probably congratulate me on taking care of my own problems.” I stated flatly, practically monotone, there was no emotion at all in my voice.

We continued to breakfast normally, nothing came of the incident that morning till lunch. When the other two guards sauntered over to our table, several other guards were following them.  “You attacked Charlie. You practically broke every bone in his body.” He suddenly pulled out his staff and struck me on the back. “Time for pay back, freak.”

He brought it around to strike me again. My hand snapped out and caught it, I pulled out the Glock lightning fast and put it under his chin. I looked him dead in the eyes, “You’re luckier than him, you won’t feel anything.” I pulled the trigger, and he crumpled, dead before he hit the floor. I jumped up pulling out my larger Kukri. I moved like liquid lightning towards the other guard from this morning before anyone had registered that the first had died. Plunging the blade into his gut, wrenching it up as I pushed it in. He looked at me, I watched his face go pale as he realized his life was ebbing away. I shoved him down and flicked the blood of the knife as I pulled the Luger out in my right hand. I heard 38 and 41 getting up behind me. “WHOSE NEXT!” I roared with blood lust. Charging the next guard, I saw terror in their faces as the three of us converged on them. The next 20 minutes are still a blur in my head. I remember killing left and right, never stopping for any reason. I know I took two bullets, but they weren’t fatal. 38 and 41 fired into the guards as well, taking a few out of the picture. When I ran out of bullets I shouted, “WITHOUT BULLETS, I’LL HAVE TO RESORT TO STABBING!!!” as I pulled out the knives I started rushing each guard, they couldn’t keep up with me. I heard that some of them said they never even saw me until I was actually stabbing them. Some never even saw me stab them. A few other Immortals joined in shooting or stabbing their guards when they could. A few cowered behind tables to avoid being shot. None of us were hurt, but I don’t know how many guards were killed or severely injured. The Director never told me. He actually congratulated me on becoming a leader among leaders. I just know that there weren’t any guards after that evening.
