Many transgender people choose names similar to their birth name. For example, a trans man with the birth name Alexa might change their name to just Alex.
Although, some people have it harder than that. There are several names that can't easily be changed to a name for the opposite gender, and some trans people don't want a reminder of their dead/birth name.
So how do you pick a name?
The easiest way to start, is make a list of all the names you like. Search the internet for as many names as you want, and make a list of your favorites.
If you can't narrow it back to one by yourself, try showing your favorites to supporting friends and family, and ask them which name fits you.
Remember, you don't have to stick to this name forever. You may change your name a lot before you find the one that fits you, that's perfectly normal. Experiment with names if you have to, because it's you, no one else. You're the one who has to be happy with what you choose, so try as many names as you need.
