"Rosie!" Derek races to me and spins me around as soon as he spots me at the airport. "Oh I missed you so much."
"I missed you too Derek." I tell him kissing him quickly.
"Ross!" Trevor appears moments later in uniform. "My shipping date was pushed back to this week, and I have a layover for a half hour here." He says.
"That's great!" I tell them, "We can all hang out here. My dad's due in any minute."
"Isn't God amazing?" Derek asks. "We'll all be together one more time before we're all separated by oceans for years."
"I wish I could be here for your operation." Trevor says as we walk over to a cafe and sit down. "Drink? Food?"
"I'm okay for now thanks." I tell him sitting at the table with Derek, "I had lunch with the boys before you got here." I assure Derek, who's been fretting about my eating habit since he left.
"What did you guys eat?" He asks.
"Who are you my father?" I ask him.
"No, that job would belong to me." My father says. I look over Derek's shoulder and my father stands there arms open wide for a hug.
"Daddy!" I jump up from my seat and race into his arms.
"I missed you darling." He says.
"Where's Annalise?" I ask him. "And why haven't you married her yet?" I ask him looking up at him.
"She's with her daughter, she's on the next flight. I want you to be there when I ask her," He says, he pulls out two boxes. "This is the ring," He holds up one, he shows me the ring before putting it back into his pocket, "And this," He opens the box and a Superman dog-tag is sitting missing the symbol, "Is from Derek," Derek pulls out his key-chain and shows me the symbol that goes inside the dog tag perfectly.
"I was going to give it to you at Christmas, but I forgot it." Derek says rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, "So, what do you say, will you let me be your superman?"
"Aw, Derek," I smile picking up the dog tag and smile at him holding onto it. I put it around my neck, "You don't need a dog tag to be my superman." I assure him, "But I love it, and i love you." I tell him letting him pull me in for a kiss his keys getting tangled into my hair, but I don't even care. Trevor and my father are talking in the background, but all that matters is the man I'm with.
"I love you so much Rosie." He says. "So much." He pulls back first.
"You think I could get one last hug before my flight leaves in five minutes?" Trevor asks.
"You're leaving already?" I ask him sadly, "But it feels like you just got here."
"I know Ross, but it's what I signed up for." He says apologetically, "See you soon Sis, I'll call you when I get settled." He promises. "It won't be long. Call me when your surgery's over." I give him a nod. "I love you you're the best sister anyone could ask for." Trevor says wrapping me into a tight hug.
"Love you too big brother." I tell him smiling weakly. "Call, write, whatever you can as often as you can. Don't forget me."
"Not even possible Sis," He says. "I'll be back in no time." He picks up his carry on and walks out of the cafe, I race after him hugging him tightly wishing I could tell him everything I'm thinking. I hand him a small box from my bag with his name on it. He gives me a curious look.
"Whenever you get homesick, just look inside." I tell him, "It's just a few things that will make home feel a little closer."
"Thanks Ross," He says, he presses a soft kiss to my head before walking to his gate and going quickly through security. He turns back and waves. I wave back. Derek coming up behind me wrapping an arm around me and waving with the other. Trevor disappears and I bow my head the separation already hitting me.
