"Rosalyn, are you sure you have everything?" My father asks me for the third time on the video call his face looking worried. My plane landed two hours ago and I got here around 700 am. My poor father wouldn't go to sleep until I'd called him to tell him I'm safely in my dorm, so he dropped me off at the airport, and he's still awake, it's now three in the morning there.

"Don't worry Daddy, I'm okay." I tell him, "I miss you a lot though, I wish you could be here, Oxford is amazing. The flora and fauna alone are beautiful. The architecture is beyond fantastical." Just the word architecture makes me think of Derek who's in another time zone.

"I have to go sweetheart, I'll talk to you later, I promise." He says, "Love you. Stay safe. I'll see you for Christmas."

"I love you too. Bye Daddy." I tell him before the screen goes black, just in time for another call to come through. "Derek!" I greet him happily before he even comes fully into focus.

"Hey Rosie." He says, "Did yo get settled, is this a good time?"

"I just hung up with my father." I tell him. "I'm not going to be able to do much until my boxes get here, and I should be meeting my roommate tomorrow."

"I thought you and your father asked for you to have a private room?" Derek says. "Your roommate isn't going to be happy listening to all your calls, and your privacy is going to be extremely invaded."

"Tell me something I don't know. They've got my room screwed up." I tell him before picking up the tablet and setting it on the night stand and sitting on the bed. "Can you still see me?" I ask him.

"I can still see you." He assures me.

"Jet lag sucks." I tell him. He laughs and nods in agreement, he flew out yesterday, and for some reason his jet lag wasn't as bad as mine feels. "So how is Aussie territory?"

"Pretty relaxed, everyone's friendly."

"Hey, dude, come on, we're hitting the surf." Someone with a Southern accent, but still American says.

"Who's that?" I ask him.

"Roommate, he's crazy. I hope your roommate situations' not at crazy as mine." Derek says.

"Dude let's go!" The boy says coming up to Derek and coming into view. "Who's the chick?"

"My girlfriend, so hands off." Derek says his protective and territorial side coming out, "Rosie, this is Max my roommate, Max, Rosalyn my girlfriend."

"Sup?" He asks.

I give an awkward wave biting my lips before giving a nervous smile. A knock at my door pulls my attention away from the screen. I pick up the tablet and walk to the door looking through the peep hole, a boy about Derek and my age is standing there. I open the door curiously.

"Hey, I'm Lindsey Locke." He says awkwardly, "I'm thinking the school screwed up my papers, and I'm rooming in here."

My eyes widen and I'm pretty sure Derek would break through time to get here and stop Lindsey.

"I really hate Murphy." I tell Derek.

"Me too Rosie, me too." He says, "Dude, she's got a boyfriend, best friend, and father that will not hesitate to come beat the living daylight out of you if you so much as mess with her."

"Noted, but don't worry, I won't, I have a girlfriend back home." He says. "Been dating since ninth grade."

"Rosie, I hate to hang up on you, but I do have to go. Max is giving me an evil eye. Love you lots."
