You're trying too hard

I told you a thousand times,

i just can't be happy right now.

But you keep pushing yourself,

you are determined to see me smile.

I look away,

and realized what's wrong.

I told you i'm fine,

but you see right through that lie.

You pull me close and hug me tight,

and say it will be alright.

I start to cry,

but you don't know why.

Neither do i though,

and i never will.

You thought a hug would make it better,

but it only made it worse.

Through all the tears i see your face,

and tell you you're trying too hard,

i'm just not in the right place...
