Two Sides

Everyone has two personalities,

And often they don't clash well.

One side of me loves life,

And the other wishes for the end.

One side of me wishes for the best,

While the other side wishes for the worst because I know it will mean the end.

One side of me wants to stay sober forever,

Meanwhile the other side is blackout drunk and looking for something to smoke.

The half of me that wishes for love always has a smile,

And tries their best to make others smile.

While the other half begs people to stay,

Because they fear being left alone again.

One half of me tries and tries to convince the other side that they are right,

Until they both fear they are wrong.

When things get bad one half says ask for help,

While the other shouts they won't understand.

One half says but they might,

Just try.

And the other sinks slowly,

And wishes to die.

One half craves attention,

While the other fades into the shadows.

My happy side shines like the sun in the sky,

Brushing off hate and keeping a smile.

While my other half sits in the corner,

Thinking about why things are the way they are and why they can't be good.

Then things are good.

But even while they are good,

I still find some way some outrageous way to make them bad.

At the end of each day,

I hold my head up high.

With one thought,

Do I want to live? Or do I want to die?
