Darry- "Ordinary People": John Legend.
"Are you seriously telling me you've never heard this song?"
You were absolutely appalled upon discovering that Darry didn't know the song "Ordinary People." You cut him a bit of slack knowing that he didn't follow John Legend, but who hadn't heard this song. Darry claimed that he didn't listen to much music in general, but you weren't having any of that.
After much pestering, you got him to listen to the song. He decides he likes it, and the simplicity of the relationship described in it. Says it describes the two of you together. You're satisfied by that response, even though you're half-sure he says it just to get you off his back about this.
Two-Bit- Rihanna.
Two-Bit is laid-back and easygoing most of the time. But when it comes to the music he listens to, he's very particular and stubborn. Strictly Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan....except when it's Rihanna.
You complain that he only likes her because he thinks she's hot, which he doesn't argue with. But, if that gets him to let you play at least one artist you want to listen to in the car, you decide to let him have his crush.
Dallas- The 1975.
Usually, Dally is more of a classic rock kind of guy- with The Eagles, Journey, and Nirvana. You, and your widely diverse music taste, get him to branch out a little more. You had the aux cord in the car one day and "Love Me" came on. He didn't like them at first but you can tell he's starting to dig their "old" sound. Or, at least he's complaining less when you play them.
Steve- "Forever", "Love the Way You Lie"
Steve likes "angry" music, to say the least. That means track after track of Eminem. On a daily basis. He's a great rapper, but there is only so much you can take.
The two of you compromise. He can play Eminem out loud around you, if it's a collab with artists you like. He still sneaks some non-collabs in. Or, if he can't take what he calls the "weak" Eminem songs, he won't play his stuff aloud. Or at all.
Soda- One Direction.
It started out as a joke. You know how easily Sodapop gets songs stuck in his head, so you decided to play "What Makes You Beautiful." On repeat. For two hours straight. Needless to say, it worked.
It was a surprise when he started looking up other songs of theirs on his own. You caught him humming "Olivia," a not so well known song by them, and figured out that he liked the band. You like them too, and now you finally have someone to talk about them with.
Johnny- Frank Ocean.
You were eating at a diner with Johnny when the notification came on your phone that Frank had dropped his album, Blonde. You nearly flipped out in the middle of the restaurant. Johnny claimed to have never heard a single song by him. You made it your duty to get him hooked on channel ORANGE and then Blonde. You're successful.
Sometimes, when he's alone, often in the lot at night, he puts on one of his songs. And thinks of you.
Ponyboy- "Right Hand": Drake
Ponyboy has a more mellow music taste. You have nothing against what he plays, particularly on rainy days or sleepy Saturday afternoons. But, when you're trying to get hype or stay awake while doing homework, a soft Ed Sheeran song or Passenger is not what you want to hear.
You figure out that it's almost too much to ask that he have a whole playlist of "pumped up" music. But, after much begging, you get him to add a Drake song. You hadn't expected him to pick "Right Hand," but you're not complaining. Your plan is to start small before fully immersing him into the world of rap. (It'll take some time.)
(A/N): Hopefully I captured their music taste. It took me a while trying to figure out what they would listen 😅
