Harriet POV
-----------------------
Once outside alpha and I walk towards his car. A black Chevy Impala, sadly not a 1967, and no he doesn't call it baby. Her name is Sarah. We enter the car and Carter starts to drive. I don't ask where we're going, knowing we were going to Pauline's, a local lunch and breakfast place across from the bank, and right next to the best coffee shop in town. The drive there is quiet aside from the music, and belting out The Piano Man when it came on to the radio. When we arrive we take the both in the back, the most private place here, we both know that this will be a very serious conversation between friends, if it was pack business we would have gone to first street bar and grill. Pauline, the owner, spots us from the back and tells the chef our order, knowing that when we come in here we hate to be disrupted unless it was by food. Carter, sitting across the table form me, clears his throughly slightly. I look to him expectantly."Harriet I know for a fact that you could handle being alpha, but you need to mature first, your wolf has to settle." He says softly, we still have to careful here, who knows what lays hidden around the corner trying to take down our pack.
"Carter I understand your concern, but my wolf has had seventeen years to settle, my wolf is quieter than yours by far and you know it. I was born to be alpha, and I am ready. Your mate is out there, maybe they have a crush on you, maybe it will have to be one of those love at first sight things, but he is out there waiting for you. And you are avoiding finding him because you are alpha. Being alpha is holding you back, and when I find my mate I wouldn't let it. I am not saying leave the pack, I'm saying live your life, and if that means giving me the alphas position than so be it." I end my semi rant with a slight puff of air. Carter smiles at me slightly.
"Your right, but I can't give it up just yet. How about this, I find him and if they except me (assuming there army human) then I will give you the alphas position. If they are human I'm not going to tell them what I am, if worst comes to worst than I will tell him. But I refuse to ruin their innocence by showing them this world. I will find him, but first can we have food pleases." I laugh as he shoots me the puppy eyes, I nod agreeing.
Soon enough our food comes out; Carter a ham omelet breakfast sandwich, and I a BLT with extra mayo and Swiss cheese. We eat in piece, laughing and talking like the old friends we are, I have know Carter since I was five and he was..... Whatever. We have been coming to this both since the first day he got his drivers license. I smile at the old memories. We finish our meal, racing to the register to pay for it, leaving a generous tip. Sadly he won and payed for the meal. I always fell so wired when someone pays for me, I'd rather pay for them, Carters the same way. We get back in his car and drive around for a while, performing the perfect car karaoke. After a few hours we stop at Levies and fill up and grab some ice cream. We then headed back to the pack house to have a pack bonding night.
