Chapter #1

*Rose's POV*

The moon shone down upon my gleaming black coat. Wind pushed my mane down my back. The wind ruffled it. I looked at my silent herd. They stood gazing back at me, listening to the sound of pounding hooves. My spy slid to a stop and lowered his muzzle.

"Are they getting nearer?"

"Yes Lead Mare. They are only two hours out." Re Shaman said, looking at my eyes.

"Then we ride out!"

I rear and shriek a powerful shriek. The herd starts to run, following behind me. My hooves strike the grounds as my entire herd lets out neighs and snorts. We run until dawn. The fillies and colts suckle from their dams before falling into a deep sleep. I chuckle out an awww, trying not to wake them. Looking at the mares, i order the stallions to their post.

Yes, you herd me. (Sorry, had to do my small horse pun xD) I am the leader of a herd, a herd full of stallions and mares. A herd of Shifters.

*The End*

Jk Jk. Let the story go on!

I walk around my family. The herd members nuzzle and greet me as i come by. The mares lay down to conserve their strength for tomorrow. We shall run again. My herd is being chased by hunters. They saw us and realized we would be worth loads of money if caught. So far, the stallions and i have escaped capture.

Ive been thinking of having us shift into our human form. Everyone disagrees... they say they would rather be caught, than be human. I fully agree. So we are searching for the protected lands, the lands called El Sombre.

They are sacred grazing grounds by mustangs. The only problem is, i am not a mustang. I am an all black Arabian with a white horse shoe on my left flank. My birthmark. I look beautiful, but out of place leading a herd of mustangs.

I don't care. My parents led this herd and they were Arabians, so i shall too. We traveled through the night, searching for a safe place to sleep. The fillies and colts laid upon their parents backs, sleeping to the swaying.

I look up at the stars, my eyes saddening when i see the lone star, waiting patently for my arrival. It shines brighter when i look up. I scream out a neigh, as hoof beats arrive quickly. My spy arrives again.

"Of what news do you bring?"

"A pack of werewolves is only ten minutes aw..." he gets jerked back by a rope.

I scream a challenge and force my herd forwards. They jump and speed away, me following behind. My spy lets out a scream of help. I scream to my second, telling them to move without me.

"Re Shaman!" I scream to my son, racing after him.

Yes you heard me. He is my son. From the great stallion Oasis. His star stares upon my back every night.

I cut the rope with my hooves. Re Shaman races away, thinking im behind him. I scream a goodbye, the ropes on my neck stopping me from running after. He gets to the top of the hill and rears, striking to the sky.

I rear in return, the wolves watching from their horses.

Then i bolt.

At first they cant contain me, their horses sliding to my strength. But i stop. My herd must get away. I cause ruckus to distract them. I rear and buck and kick and roll. The wolves call the rest of the riders to me. Fourteen ropes go around my neck, and one around my muzzle.

They lead me on. My forest home has faded from my sight. On mare walks right beside me, talking to me. Her name is Sahara. She is a shifter. My ears prick at the sound of hoof beats. At first i think its my herd, but there is only one set of hooves. I snicker in sadness and lower my head.

"Where is this mare that caused you so much trouble?" A powerful voice asked.

"Here is the she devil." A man said, lifting my muzzle.

I snap at his fingers when i look at the horse. His back is covered in scars. I rear in fright, snapping at the humans that held me. The horse looks up in confusion, then in recognition.

Oasis.

My neigh tears through all. Even the male alpha looks at me. He looks confused. I force my way through the horses, the wolves trying to pull me back. I stretch my muzzle to Oasis, exchanging scents. The Alpha pulls harshly on Oasis's Reins and growls. He mutters a mine and pats my head.

"Who did this to you Oasis?"

"Horse thieves." He says sadly.

"Why is he growling?"

"I don't know."

With a swipe of his wrist, the Alpha male forced the wolves to start dragging me. To where, i have no clue.

I need an escape. A Silver Escape.
