On March 8th, Ceb barely slept. She woke up even before the Sun had completely risen. She had already invited all her classmates and they had given their word to be there. Alex was the first one to turn 18 from their class of 40. He lived two streets away from her place and she could barely contain her restlessness at the breakfast. Her dad passed snidey remarks about how bland the food was and how her mother was a good-for-nothing. Today, Ceb didn't let it get to her. Nothing would spoil her enthusiasm today. It struck 8: 30. She giggled, brushed the folds of her peach frock and bid goodbye to her parents and rode down the street she was so familiar with since her childhood. Her friend, Alyssa was already there with the cake along with few of her classmates. With a deep breath, she rang the bell and Alex's maid opened the door with a broad smile.
"His other bunch of friends are here too. Come inside sweetie" she said. Ceb absolutely adored this old woman. "What did you think of what chick in the lavender dress. I could see her checking me out"
Ceb frowned. Turning eighteen definitely was getting to his head.
"Absolutely a no no" she fumed.
"Fine. How about Alyssa instead?" He winked at her.
This made her furious.
"What is wrong with you? Since when have you started acting like the rest" she almost screamed.
"Come on. You don't expect me to remain single for the rest of my life. And I think she would be easy to handle." he retorted.
Ceb couldn't believe her ears. The Alex whom she knew never had such shrewd opinions.
She said she was going home and stormed away.
Ceb wasn't against the idea of dating or love. She just hated the idea that boys thought girls were things they could possess. And when she heard it from her best friend, it almost tormented her
