"Despite all your flaws, I still think you're perfect."
"Mason" I muttered as I turned, our fro-yo's in my hands and I almost very very very nearly dropped them as my sight fell upon the two embracing, smiling; laughing? What on earth? I staggered over to their table, aware I looked stupid.
"Oh, Leah hey" Mason greeted and I yanked his arm, pulling him up and over to some place to talk. "What are you doing?" I asked bluntly and he scratched his neck. "I couldn't, it was her pets death anniversary or something, I don't know. I felt cruel" he explained and I could've pulled the hair from his head.
"Really? Really Mason? What happened to 'I didn't want to hurt her like that'?" I said, whacking the side of his head and he rubbed at the place my palm has brushed against. "It's. Hard" he excused and I bit my lip to refrain from swearing out loud but I saw Rebecca quite nearly falling off her chair in order to get a better listen into our conversation and I pushed him back slightly. "I'll see you later" I said and he realised I was saying bye and he realised I was leaving. And thankfully he didn't stop me.
It was cold outside and I still had two fro-yo's in my hands. At first, I thought of eating them both but I saw a petite homeless woman wrapped in two purple blankets so I walked over to her and placed the cardboard pot in front of her. An act to which she thanked and blessed me and I smiled back at her; walking away before she tucked in.
"That was nice" a different voice said, a slithering voice that snaked its way into my head but remained unknown until I turned to look. "Aren't I just" I said vainly whilst I was turning and Jackson stood not too far from me, his hands shoved into his pockets and his leather jacket wrapped around him; exaggerating his build and I scowled at him.
"Are you alone?" He asked, completely ignoring me and instead running a hand through his hair. "No," I answered and he smiled cockily, as though I was lying to him. "I'm seriously not, I came here with Mason and-" he cut me off, "and now he's with his girlfriend and you're all alone with nothing to do" he assumed and I wondered if he'd been watching me and I wished I'd just stayed in that shop and spoke with the delightful rich people.
"No, actually. But, even if I were, it's no business of yours so just leave" I ordered, my fist shaking very slightly when he stayed glued to the spot. "Is this because I blew you off?" He asked, his head cocked to the side and I didn't like this new personality of his, all egotistical and arrogant.
"I blew you off" I corrected and Jackson muttered something to himself. "Doesn't matter," he cleared up and I just figured he'd forgotten what had happened, "fact is, you're butt-hurt about it whereas, I am not." I shoved the spoon into my mouth, giving myself a few minutes to think about what I had to say. "Look, Jackson, if you came here trying to prove to yourself that you're something more than just an obnoxious rat, then I'd leave now if there's nothing you'd actually like to tell me" I informed and he raised an eyebrow but it fell just as quickly.
"Obnoxious rat?" He repeated and I sucked in some air, I had to admit that wasn't my proudest moment. "I think you'll find, I'm too hot to be a rat" he began but I spoke before he could add anything. "Alright then, bye Jackson" I said simply and he reached out to stop me. "Okay, okay, okay. I just, you know, you're alone, I'm alone, we should hang out" he suggested and I snorted out loud.
"No" I replied bluntly and he sighed, "please" he squeaked, as if the word caused him pain on another level. "No" I repeated and he shrugged, "I'll just follow you around all day then" he said in a totally non creepy stalker way. "Be my guest" I welcomed as I began walking away and I heard him hiss, "are you really going to make me do this?" But I didn't say anything, I kept walking, trying to escape whilst zig zagging in and out of groups of people.
"Leah! Leah! Oh hey! Leah!" The annoyingly recognisable voice that was Sean's called out from a group of people I trudged into and then out of. I guess I should've saw this coming and I winced as he caught up the same time Jackson did.
We all stood in a sort of line; the three of us glancing at each other oddly. "Hey" Sean muttered to no one in particular. "Hey" Jackson said before I could utter a word. "Hey" I finally mumbled and we stood there again; completely silent as I shuffled from one foot to another.
"Gosh, it's as if every time I see you, you're with a guy" Sean joked but neither me or Jackson laughed. "Yep" I said, popping the 'p' like a child just to make the situation awkwarder. "What do you want?" Jackson felt obliged to ask and I was glad he was he one to ask so Sean straightened up and looked over at me, peering into my soul.
"I just wanted to ask if you were okay, you left in a hurry yesterday at the party and you seemed abit shook" he mentioned and I cleared my throat. "I don't like parties" I explained, "what a weirdo" Jackson muttered and I glanced over at him; scowling once more. "Oh, I just, I don't know, I just thought it was me for a few seconds" Sean continued and I put on the best fake laugh I could muster, "oh don't be silly" I comforted and he smiled to himself.
"This is getting boring, can we go?" Jackson questioned and I raised an eyebrow at him. "Stop. Following. Me" I instructed whilst pushing the tip of my index finger into his chest and Sean seemed taken aback by this, as if he should step in any time now. But Jackson smirked as he followed my stare from the two of them. "That was clearly just an excuse to touch me" he cooed and I stamped on the floor, groaning out loud at his level of stuck-upness. (Totally a word.)
