The thing stares at us in disbelief. "What!" It screeches. "I could've sworn you two were in here!" Out of the corner of my eye, I see Mark's eyebrow raise a little while staring at me in confusion.

The dog/cat creature lets out a yelp as the thing kicks it in its side. "You stupid piece of shit! You let them escape?! They're probably gone now since you led me to the wrong place!" The animal whimpers and scoots away from the thing.

What the hell is going on?  I mutter in my head watching the angry thing slams the closet door close and storms away, dragging the whimpering animal away. I glance over at Mark who's smiles a little, leaning back against the wall.

"Nice job Jack," he whispers quietly. "I really thought-"

"Is that... thing blind or something?" I whisper yelled at him. "We were right in front of him and he somehow didn't even see us!"

"Jack-"

"And I know for a fact that we were fixing to be so dead. The animal pointed us out! Neither of them saw us for-"

"Jack," he sighs as the front door slams shut indicating to us that the two of them finally left. "Did you seriously not know what you did?"

"I didn't do a damn thing!" I shrieked. He rolls his brown eyes.

"God, you don't remember a thing do you?" I throw my hands up in the air.

"What are you talking ab-"

"You made us invisible Jack." I froze while he stands up and opens the closet door.

"What the hell kind of drugs are you on?" I hissed. "I did no such thing! All I did was grab your wrist knowing that we were going to get caught!"

"Jack..." He says, rubbing his temple slowly. He was irritated that much I know, but in my defense he wasn't making any sense. "I honestly don't know how to explain this to you."

"Explain what?" I huffed, standing up. "That you're a freak?"

"Like you're any different!" He growls. I roll my eyes stepping around him.

"Please, I'm obviously a human and so are you but you're probably on some type of-" without any warning, Mark picks up a vase and throws it at me. My back stiffened and I glared at the incoming vase. It suddenly stops inches away from my face. I blink in shock and the vase drops down shattering all over the floor. "W-what the hell..." I mutter.

"You see," Mark says, smirking at my reaction. "You're not as human as you think you are."

"B-but... how.. Why?" I stammer out, unable to find any words to ask the right question. Mark sighs as we walked into the now messy living room.

"Jack," he says at last, sitting down on the ripped sofa. "You were genetically modified."

My heart drops when I hear those words. Genetically modified. "W-what.. but why?"

"Simple," he replies, running his fingers through his hair. "You were created to be the perfect weapon for the government."
