Going to school the next day and pretending everything was normal was the hardest thing ever. You can't exactly just waltz up into school pretending like some fictional creatures who weren't supposed to exist didn't just try to kill you yesterday.

"Yo bro, you good?" Felix's voice snaps me out of my train of thought.

"Huh?" I stutter, looking around. The classroom was surprisingly empty. Felix and I were the only ones left.

"You've been zoned out for two minutes dude." He replied, slinging his backpack over his shoulder. "I've been trying to get your attention but you were completely zonked."

"Oh," was all I muttered as I gathered my textbooks and shoved them into my backpack. "Who do we have next?"

"Lunch." That answer took me by surprise.

"It's already lunch time?" I ask in disbelief, standing up and throwing my backpack over my shoulder. Felix doesn't answer me until we exit the classroom and make our way down the now empty hall.

"Be honest with me, Jack." He says quietly. So quiet that it actually scares me a little. "Are you hiding something from me?"

Fuck, he knows! My mind screams at me in panic.

"N-no," I stammer, avoiding eye contact. But Felix just stares straight ahead, jaw clenching.

"You know Jack, I think you're lying. I'm your bestfuckingfriend bro!" The door in front of us leading to the stairwell suddenly bursts open without either of us touching it. Felix walks through as if nothing happened but I'm a little hesitant before following. "I know you're fucking lying to me. I know that those things attacked you yesterday."

     "But... but how?"

"Because those same idiotic creatures that attacked you and Mark yesterday also destroyed my house." Felix responds as we make our way down the stair case.

"But why would they attack you? You're just a human!" I exclaim. He smirks.

"Or so you think." He grabs my arm and drags me into the tenth grade hallway and into the nearest restroom.

"Felix, what the fucking hell man? Let me go." I growl, yanking my arm out of his grasp as he locks the bathroom door. He takes off his backpack and throws it int he corner of the bathroom before flicking on the light.

"Hey, don't look so alarmed," Felix says. Except it was no longer the Swedish voice I had known all my life. His voice was almost silky, and very deep and mature.

"W-who are you? What have you done with Felix?" I ask, backing up against the bathroom wall, wishing Mark were here to help me.

"Do not be afraid little one," The being in Felix's body says. Blue tendrils snake around Felix's body, causing him to radiate in a faint, bluish, ghostly glow. A soft, warm calming sensation floods through me, reassuring me.

"Wow, I feel..."

"Safe?" The voice asks. "As you should. Please, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jehoel, and I was sent here to help you and the subject by the human name of Mark."
