Chapter 4 : You Can't

Taeyeon stared at her son as he plays alone with his toys.

She suddenly sighed. Does Dohyun feel alone? Taeyeon thought.

Taeyeon, out of nowhere, felt a pair of arms wrapped around her waist.

"Honey..." It was Baekhyun.

Taeyeon turned to her right and Baekhyun got his chance to steal a peck on the lips from her.

"Babe-!" Taeyeon gasped. Baekhyun chuckled and removed his arms around her waist.

"What's wrong, hon? It seems like you were thinking about something. And it looks serious, judging from your facial expression." Baekhyun said and removed a strand of hair that was blocking her face.

She sighed and looked at Dohyun, who's still playing with his toys.

"I think Dohyun is lonely..." Taeyeon pouted.

"What do you mean, lonely?" Baekhyun asked.

"Dohyun doesn't have anyone to play with." Taeyeon answered.

Baekhyun looked at his son as he started playing with his building blocks.

"Dohyunnie." Baekhyun called, catching Dohyun's attention. Dohyun looked up from his building blocks and smiled. He then ran to Taeyeon and Baekhyun.

"Yes, Daddy?" Dohyun asked.

Baekhyun crouched down to Dohyun's level, as Taeyeon stared at the both of them.

"Be honest with Daddy and Mommy," Baekhyun said and looked at Taeyeon, then back again at Dohyun. "Do you feel... lonely?"

"Lonely?" Dohyun tilted his head to the side, and then he nodded. "Yes, Daddy. I feel lonely."

Baekhyun couldn't hide his expression as pain strike him onto the chest. He suddenly felt heavy and so did Taeyeon.

"When I'm at school, Daddy, I'd always see my classmates with their siblings. They don't look alone when they are with their siblings. And that makes me want to have a sibling." Dohyun said.

Taeyeon and Baekhyun began to exchange glances. "So what do you want, Dohyun?" Taeyeon asked her son.

Dohyun smiled. "Is it okay if I can have a younger sibling?"

Baekhyun came out of the bathroom, wearing only pajama pants on and a towel was wrapped around his shoulder.

Taeyeon, on the other hand, was just staring at her reflection in the mirror. 

"Dohyun wants a little sibling..." Baekhyun said and stared at Taeyeon through the mirror.

Taeyeon looked at him from the mirror and nodded. "I know..."

"Should we grant him that wish?" Baekhyun asked.

But what Baekhyun didn't realize was that Taeyeon's condition was still poor from when she fell down the stairs. No matter how many years was that, it seems like her condition is still poor.

"Baek, remember the time where I fell down the stairs? I almost lost Dohyun because of that accident." Her voice cracked in pain.

What Taeyeon said suddenly melted into Baekhyun.

Because of that fall, they lost their son.

Taeyeon had lost her real son.

And she thinks her son is Dohyun. But clearly, he's not.
