(Pib's P.O.V)

"Isacc, I've made up my mind..." Dib spoke.

Oh no, I thought. Gim was staring at him with dismay with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I will-" he began, but my voice interrupted him.

"Dib!" I screamed, "Dib please! Help us. Help me! We really need you right now!"

Dib whipped his head in my direction and my sister was staring at me.

They can hear me! I thought, then I ran up to the window. Gim was close behind me. Dib walked up to the window and he gazed into my eyes.

"Please," I pleaded. He was on the verge of tears. His hands were up to mine and he didn't dare look away from me.

"I... I'm sorry this happened..." he murmured softly. My words caught in my throat as I saw how sincere he was.

"So, what is it going to be, Dib?" Isacc stepped behind the boy and put his hand on his shoulder. He turned around to face the mad doctor and swallowed.

"Uh... How about I-" Once again he was interrupted, but this time by a scientist that bursted through the doors.

"Isacc! There's an emergency at Lab 46! You need to come quick!" he shouted. Isacc ran behind the scientist hurriedly and Dib turned to my sister and I.

"Ok! This is my chance to break you guys out," he told us.

Gim glared at him.

"Then what are you waiting for?" she snapped.

Dib ran to the door, but didn't open it.

"There's a code on the keypad!" he yelled. Gim got up and pulled me away from the window.

"Pib, get out of the way. You too, human," she stood in front of the window confidently, the activated a laser from her Pak. Glass flew everywhere and made a loud shattering noise that echoed around the whole room. Dib protected himself from the shards that showered everywhere.

I smiled up at my sister and she smiled back.

Suddenly, I felt dizzy. The world around me started to spin as I fell to the ground.

"Pib!" I could hear both Dib and Gim scream my name. I couldn't move and I could hear my slowing heartbeat. I caught a glimpse of both of them crowded around me.

"Come on, get up, sis! We didn't come here for you to die," Gim's voice shouted. Arms grabbed me and picked me up. I opened my eyes to see my sister carrying me, tears rolling off her face. We jumped through the window pane and out the door into the hallway. Scientists started coming at us as we ran down the corridor.

One of the scientists ran beside Gim and punched her in the face, making her fall. She lost grasp of me and I went flying. I had opened part of my stitching and I was bleeding.

"No!" Dib screamed. He ran up to me and used all the force he could to pick me up. I felt him struggle to lift me and carry me. He looked back at Gim. She was fighting the horde of scientists that surrounded her.

"I'll catch up with you," she yelled to Dib, "Just get her out of here and to safety!"

The boy nodded and ran with me in his arms. He looked down at me as he ran and panted, "Don't worry, you'll be fine... It's going to be fine,"

The exit was coming up fast. Dib had a slight look of relief in his eyes as we came closer.

Next thing I knew we were outside the lab. Dib was panting and breathless. He looked back at me.

"We did it," he breathed.

"Yeah," I whispered.

But what about Gim?

Dib put me down and sat down against the wall. I stumbled over and sat next to him.

We sat there silently, waiting for Gim to burst out of the exit. Sure enough, a few minutes later the door opened. Gim had a few cuts and scratches on her and looked toward us. She held a bucket in her hand, but I was too tired and afraid to ask what it was.

"Are you alright?" I asked her.

"Never mind me, what about you?" The tone in her voice was worried, "You were holed up in there with a crazy man!"

I told them both the whole story; the shop, the puddle, the malfunction with my disguise, the experiments, and how I had lost my mind. They both stared at me, wide eyed after I finished.

"I can't believe you guys came to save me," I thanked them, "How did you know?"

"There were a bunch of police men and scientists at your base," Dib said, "I knew that you must have been captured, and I was right, wasn't I?"

"You were," I replied in a soft tone. I looked at Gim.

"How were you involved?" I asked her.

"I was dragged in by your little friend," she explained, "At first I though it was a trap but I went anyway."

We all sat there talking for a while, then Dib stood up and said, "Come on. We need to get Pib patched up." Gim shot up and glared at him.

"No way, she needs to come back to Irk. She has a mission to get to," my sister glanced down at me, "Come on Pib," She held her hand out in front of me.

I looked at Dib before reaching to grab her hand; his expression was unreadable.

My sister pulled me up off the ground and started to walk away. I turned back to glance at Dib. He couldn't even seem to meet my eyes.

"Come on," I told him and pulled on his arm.

We followed Gim all the way back to her ship which had been parked in a nicely secluded area. She got into the cockpit of the ship and fiddled around with the controls.

"It's going to take a minute or two to warm up," she told us, "I'll give you time to say goodbye or whatever."

I stared Dib in the eyes, taking a mental picture. A very grim look swept across his face. He didn't want me to leave him, and I didn't want to leave him. Yet, I had to.

"I guess this is goodbye..." I muttered to him silently. He nodded and replied, "Yeah..."

"After I'm done with my mission, I'll come back," I said in a more cheerful tone. Dib didn't say anything. He just stared at the ground sadly. I lifted his chin so he could look me in the eye.

"I promise."

A slight smile broke out on his face.

"Try to get it done as fast as you can," he murmured.

Gim lifted her head from the controls and called to me, "Alright, it's ready!" I looked back at Dib. He grinned and waved me goodbye. Just as I started to walk to the ship, he spoke up, "Wait, Pib! I forgot something,"

I whipped around to face him. He suddenly lunged forward and put his lips to mine and my eyes widened in surprise.

He was kissing me!

I closed my wide eyes and let him make his kiss. The world around us didn't matter at this moment in time. All that matters is that he had felt the same way all along. He could be trusted. He was my friend.

He was my best friend.

Slowly, we broke away from the kiss. Dib's eyes shined like the stars above.

"Goodbye, Pib," he whispered.

"Goodbye..." I whispered back to him, and I crawled into Gim's ship.

The ship ascended and I barely got a last glance at Dib before we took off into space.

I will return, I prayed to him silently.

I swear.
