The person I sensed coming down the hall was Lady Kim, milord's wife. She jumped at the sight of me in the dark. She laughed as she patted my arm.
"You silly girl, you scared me." She gave me a warm smile.
"My apologies." I bowed and quickly vanished in to the trees, watching to see if she was acting suspicious but, she acted normal, as if she didn't hear anything. I still held my breath, knowing full well, she could have heard.
I decided to send one of my mice to follow, and listen to her every movement. Once that was done, I appeared by the entry way of the tunnel where Saizo was still holding that man. I closed my eyes as I leaned against the wall with my arms crossed over my chest. My vision went black, then a new sight appeared, the sight of the mouse I sent after Lady Kim. It squeezed in to a crack in the wall, and was now hidden amongst their things, watching.
"Dear, how is your health?" She said as she brushed her hands through milord's hair as he laid beside her.
"Much better, my love, thank you." Milord hummed as he closed his eyes.
"You know, I ran in to Lady Risa on the way here."
Milord continued to hum. "Yes, she had just given me an icy glare about protecting the people she cares more about than me." He chuckled.
She lightly kissed his hair. "She nearly made me jump out of my skin!" She chuckled. "She is a beautiful girl. I think that if we doll her up, she will be the most beautiful woman in the land."
Milord stopped humming, as if dumbfounded at his wife's words, as was I. "My love, do you hear yourself?"
Lady Kim sighed and nodded. "Yes."
"She is only a tool for our lives to be better!" he barked as Lady Kim hit him playfully.
"You know very well that you see her as a daughter! That's all you speak of! Even to our son!"
Milord coughed nervously as he turned away, blushing.
"See?" She smiled softly. "Because of her upbringing...she was unable to be a young woman. I'm worried that...she won't be able to find a mate."
"I know dear...I know that more than anyone. I feel regrets each time I see blood splattered on her cold, lifeless, face." He mumbled. "But, there is nothing I can do about it now...I have ruined her chances, of showing her emotions...and finding someone to love."
A large arm landed on my shoulder. I slowly opened my eyes, and seen Saizo standing beside me. He looked at me worriedly. "Everything ok?"
I slowly nodded and looked down at my hands, the knuckles were practically white. "How did it go?"
"I got him talking. They always talk."
I arched an eyebrow. "Of course. You get close to cutting a man's genitals and they start singing like a canary."
Saizo looked at me, wide eyed as he roared with laughter. "I didn't need to go that far but..." he winked. "Thanks for watching so closely."
I rolled my eyes. "Let's go, milord is waiting."
Saizo sighed as he walked beside me. "Another mission?"
I nodded. "Yes."
We fell in silence as we walked to milord's room. Their exchange of words still swirling in my head. My body began to tense with each step I got closer. I took a deep breath and cleared my mind; his words, do not change anything. I shut my emotions down because if I did not, the thought of the people I killed would keep me up, whenever I slept that is.
