You were top of your class in the 103rd trainees. A whole year older than the friends you had made from the 104th. Your skills and knowledge as a soldier rivaled both Levi and Mikasa, making your rise in rank incredibly easy. You were so close to having your own squad, and had been admired as Manu’s top choice aside from Levi’s squad, and that of the Commander himself. Not only that, but you were also easy on the eyes…

And Commander Smith's daughter….

Most of the guys you had made friends with were too scared to make their move of Erwin’s little girl, making your romantic life pretty boring. What was worse, the guys who were interested in you didn't tickle your fancy, while the one that did, didn't seem into you at all.

Armin Arlert.

Though not as strong physically, he was smart, and knew how to play his strengths in dangerous situations. His eyes were bright with intelligence, and the aura around him was kind and trusting. He was a loyal friend, an amazing soldier in spite of not having the same physical strength as some of the others. He was determined, and you liked that in a guy.

Needing to unwind and relax, you headed off to the library. Not many people ever spent their time in there unless they absolutely had to, making the library one of the few places that anyone could find a bit of peace. However, you weren't paying attention to where you were going, and ran smack into Armin.

You blushed immediately as the stack of books in his hands toppled to the floor, making you dive to the floor to pick them up as an excuse to hide your blush, “A-Armin… I'm so sorry, I-I wasn't watching where I was going, and-”

Smiling softly, Armin knelt down beside you, helping you gather the withered tomes, “i-it’s okay, Y/n. Not many people come in here so it's rare to think anyone would be just around the corner. So long as you're okay, that's all that matters. “

You smiled, blushing a little bit as a small laugh escaped your lips, “you're sweet, Armin… But there's no need to worry about me. It'll take more than a stack of books to take me down.”

Unbeknownst to you, Armin loved it when you blushed. You were always so kind and understanding. You were a strong leader, and the others looked up to you. He knew that many had their eyes set on you, making him believe that he didn't have a chance in hell with you.

It was only an hour ago that he overheard Reiner talking about how he was going to ask you out. Not being one to have the confidence to speak his feelings to anyone, especially you, Armin was sure that you would prefer someone as physically strong and confident as a soldier as Braun. He knew you deserved better, but his incapability to muster his own courage to confess hindered him greatly.

“Armin? Can I ask you a question?”

Snapping out of his own thoughts, Armin’s sky blue eyes met yours, “of course…”

You blushed, biting your lip nervously as you averted your gaze, “d-do you t-think I’m…. P-pretty?”

Flushing a deep crimson, Armin swallowed hard as his anxiety rose. Of course he thought you were pretty. He thought you were beautiful, but how could he say that and not sound like some desperate lovesick little kid? His hands shook as he scratched the back of his neck nervously, “o-of c-course… M-many p-people d-do…”

“Not people, Armin…. I'm asking if you think I'm pretty…”

His jaw dropped as you looked at him with a bit more confidence. The blush that painted your cheeks was just as beautiful as the rich (e/c) of your eyes, making his heart beat a mile a minute, “b-beautiful….”
