You weren't one of the ones lucky enough to be in the top ten, but you were damn close. In fact, you had tied with the angelic Crista Lenz, but you had spent more time studying in the Library than out in the training yard. Though making the top ten would have been nice, it wouldn't have mattered. You had your heart set on joining the scouts from the very beginning, looking to further your knowledge of the titans rather than hiding in fear of them.
Like a few others, you were a survivor of Shiganshina. You had lost everything that day. Your entire family had been wiped out in the blink of an eye in the first wave. You had only survived because a soldier had torn you away from the carnage that was once your family home. From there, you devoted yourself to learn everything you could about the monsters that ripped your family away from you. It was also why you had taken an incredible liking to the one and only Eren Jaeger.
The teal eyed male interested you deeply. From his determination to his newly discovered shifting abilities. You were thrilled the day your squad leader, Zoey Hanji, came to you, offering you a position on her team. Not only was her team almost as strong as the infamous Corporal Levi’s squad, but it also meant that you would be part of the research team that would get to study humanity’s new hope. However, you had learned real quick that studying Eren was much easier in theory than in reality.
In your time studying Eren, you found it incredibly difficult to talk to him. He was surprisingly sweet and polite towards you, but anything you wanted to say in response always came out in quick bursts of inaudible rambles while you fought to keep your blush hidden from him. Hanji had noticed this from the start, and had taken a sadistic pleasure in always asking you to handle simple tests, such as blood work and other smaller tasks that required you to be close to the brunette shifter.
What you didn't know was that your crush on Eren wasn't a one sided fantasy. Ever since you had arrived and started working alongside Hanji, Eren had developed a crush on you as well. He often watched you out in the training yard, admiring how hard you pushed yourself. Then when it came time for you to run your usual tests, he enjoyed watching you get flustered.
In his eyes, never had he seen anyone so beautiful. Your (h/c) hair reminded him of fine silk, while your (e/c) eyes shined with a mixture of determination and kindness that the world seemed to lack. You were a survivor like him. You understood the urgency to end the titan menace, and worked hard to gather all the knowledge you could to help come up with a solution. Above all, you were strong. Your body radiated strength, yet every curve remained soft and feminine. Just thinking about you made him blush, and it didn't help that Hanji purposely trapped the two of you together for at least an hour everyday.
Today was one of those days.
You had walked into the examination room, doing your best to focus on your previous test results than on Eren, “hello, Eren. I hope Hanji wasn't too rough on you today… How are you feeling?”
Eren smiled slightly, amused by the way you were purposely avoiding looking at him, “the pain is bearable. Nothing I can't handle. How are you, Y/n?”
You blushed as he said your name. There always seemed to be a slight teasing tone in his voice whenever he spoke your name, as of he already knew of your feelings for him. If you had to guess, Hanji had been running her big mouth again. Forcing yourself to look at him, you smiled kindly back, “I am well, thanks. Though, I hate to be the bearer of bad news… Hanji wants me to take more blood samples, and would like me to record your vitals now that she has subjected you to pain tolerance tests… I- uh… I’m going to need you to remove your shirt. It shouldn't take long. I promise…”
Eren smirked as you quickly turned your back on him. He could already see the blush on your face as he moved to remove his shirt. As of right now, Hanji was his hero for letting you be the one to examine him. As shy as you were, Eren had always found you to be one of the easiest people to talk to, and he was far from being shy. His outspoken personality had made it clear that there wasn't much that he found himself embarrassed of. Suspecting of your crush already, all these little trips did was boost his confidence more as he admired you from the examination table, “I'm ready, y/n.”
