Jane's POV:
Mrs. Kydd joined us at the dining table and started eating. It was incredibly silent that I thought the sounds I'm making while crunching the food was heard.
"So," Joshua decided to speak up, "Who is going to volunteer to break the silence here?"
"Apparently, you already did." I replied.
It left us all laughing at Joshua's stupidity. Joshua seemed to enjoy making people laugh. I wonder where he took after that humor from; was it from dad? Or was it from mom?
"How do you like your vacation so far, Meli-- I mean, Jane?" Mrs. Kydd said while getting the chicken she cooked from across the table. "So far, so good." I smiled at the thought of how welcoming and warm Mrs. Kydd was when I came.
"Oh really?" I turned to Luke as he cleared his throat, to see him grinning like a retard. I admit that his hair is sexy pushed back but like I told his mom, deep down inside, he's annoying. In addition, he's very confusing and is easily comfortable with anyone. It's downhill creepy.
"Yes, really." I looked back at my food, "Mrs. Kydd, I--"
"Rachel. I told you to call me Rachel." She interrupted me and managed to smile at me, considerring the fact that I keep on forgetting to address her as Rachel.
I hated sounding as if she was a friend. It sounded disrespectful but she insisted, so, "Sorry, Rachel." I hesitated when trying to say her name, "You could really call me Melissa too."
I felt Luke's eyes on me; all flabbergasted, even though I had my back facing him, "Are you sure, Jane? I mean, you felt pretty uncomfortable yesterday." Luke sounded so worried. How sweet. Not.
"Yes, I'm alright. It's just that," I placed my fork and spoon down to make sure I'm not going to get distracted while talking to them, "It seems to be so hard for you to call me by my new name. I hate seeing you struggle." I looked at each of their faces with sympathy.
"That's cause we try, sis. There's no need to worry." Joshua returned the sympathetic look.
"That's the thing, Josh. I don't want you to try too hard for me." Lies. "It's worthless, hopeless and pointless!"
I couldn't handle the thought of them treating me this way out of sympathy. I don't need it at all! I took me a second to realize that I yelled at them. I just stared at my plate, literally horrendously afraid to look at any of their eyes, "Excuse me." I stood up from the table and went to my temporary room.
I felt so exhausted I could hardly breathe in properly. It was totally weird down there. I felt like the ugly duckling, not fitting in at all. Silly Jane, what's there to fit in? Ugh, true. I'm not even sure about what I'm trying to do here.
I forgot that I had brought my laptop! I searched for my bag, immediately took out my laptop the moment I found it and opened that one and only 'awesome' sight, MuchGames! Oh how I missed you.
