Jacquelyn Herondale:

Everything started to fade into view. I was in the school cafeteria, there really wasn’t anyone or anything there. It was just me, and the tables. There was no sound, until a few seconds later, someone appears out of thin air, they faded into view. She had thick, long, blonde hair. Her eyes were a cold icey blue. She stared at me, silently. It felt like she was piercing through my skull.

She growled loudly and her fangs erupted out of their mouth. “You killed her. you killed my sister, and now you’re going to pay!” She pulled out a gun and pointed it at me.

I felt it was instinct to run away from it, but I couldn’t, the bullet would have come after me anyway. I tried so hard not to be scared. My heart was pounding right out of my chest, I couldn’t really think straight. I knew that if fear struck through, I wouldn’t become a vampire, but does it really matter? Any supernatural would be better than the Angels.

She looked up at me and growled low once more. “How dare you, I trusted you, and you go and kill my sister,” It felt like she was staring right through my soul. “Now, you’re so gonna pay.” She smirked and pointed a gun towards my head. I know what they want me to feel, they want me to feel, they want me to feel scared to hell. They want me to fear guns, because that’s what Mortals can use to kill us.

I tried to calm my breathing, I knew that if I calmed down, then I wouldn’t be as scared. Honestly, I don’t know why I felt so scared, everyone dies eventually. I took in slow breaths, and let the air out of my lungs slowly.

“I didn’t do anything, stop. Put down the gun.” I looked stern, and I was ready to do something about it. “I didn’t kill anyone, and you have no right to kill me.” I wasn’t afraid of the gun anymore. It was like I didn’t care what happened anymore.

She looked at me with a stern look. “You did kill her, someone witnessed it. They described you to the Angels when I was weeping my eyes out. You’re the one that that held the daggers that killed her. And soon, you’ll have a bullet straight through your head.” She smiled, her teeth were yellow and there was a stench.

“I did nothing, and you can’t prove that it was me.” I breathed normally, I actually wasn’t pretending to be afraid, it was really me, and I was actually fearless. I sounded like a totally different person. Like someone else took over my body, and started to control me.

“If you really believed it was me, then shoot.” My body tensed a bit, but then I settled down.

She gave me a sly look and her body tensed. “I do believe, and I will do anything to the person that killed my beloved sister.” She pointed the gun at my skull once again, and pulled the trigger.

Everything turned black immediately. A shooting pain coursed through my body, it really felt like I was dying, but my eyes weren’t heavy, and my body wasn’t sluggish. I was on the floor, of a totally different room. My eyes opened, it felt like I was just taking a nap. I felt groggy.

I got up off the floor. I looked around; I was in a room, which was totally different from before. There were glass bottles everywhere, full of different colors.

“What is this place?” I looked around cautiously; making sure no one else was in here, with a gun. I walked towards a desk, and let my hand graze the table. I looked at all of the items on the desk. There were flasks, cylinders, tablets. Until, I saw a glass bottle with a green fluid inside of it. I took the bottle into my hand. Something about it was intriguing; I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. There was a handmade charm on it. It said “Drink Me”

I knew I shouldn’t drink it. But I want to, I don’t know why. I uncorked the bottle and took a whiff of the smell. It smelt like my favorite candy, black and white angel wings. Bits of cookie in white chocolate shaped as an angel’s wing.
