Chapter 3

I was still half asleep when my phone under my pillow started buzzing, Holy molasses! My entire cheek was vibrating, forcing me into my sense. I was so agitated, I had to wake up from my sweet sleep just for someone I barely cared about; my thoughts suddenly seemed inappropriate after I read the caller's name, Theo!

I jumped up from my bed and answered the call "Hey Kia, did I disturb you?" said his sweet voice from the other side of the phone. "Not really but.... how did you get my number?" I asked still puzzled about it. "I have my sources of getting pretty girl's phone numbers but it's a secret" I couldn't help but smile so big that I almost forgot to reply, "So I see that you were missing me eh?" I playfully flirt back."Hell yeah, if I got a flower for every time I'd be thinking of you, I would be walking in my favourite garden forever". Oh sweet Lord, how could someone be so awfully cute?!!But i didn't want him to think of me as a girl who he can win over with his flirty attitude so cutting the flirt I ask him "So what's the actual reason of calling?" "Oh I wanted to know if you were also a part of the national sports events happening next month" he replied coming straight to the point with no cheesy pickup lines this time... "Duh?!! Obviously I am, I ain't missing such a big opportunity but even you are coming?" I asked astonishingly, all I wanted to hear was a yes..I'd get to spend 7 days with Theo with not much people to interrupt. "Yupz I am, we'll have fun but no forgetting what we're there for okay?"
Have fun?! Theo wants to hangout and have fun with me, it was crazy! "okay." I agreed trying to sound normal and breezy but my mind was dancing.

As soon as he hung up I hugged my pillow, I couldn't contain this excitement anymore. "AH YA YA YA YA I KEEP ON HOPING WE'LL EAT CAKE BY THE OCEAN" I start singly frantically on the top of my voice just when I'm interrupted by my mom.

"Ms Kiara Jones would you please dial down that volume of yours? It's almost time for your Athletics training and you are still in your PJs, what's wrong with you? Get ready...NOW!"

Oh shit! I couldn't miss my training at all, at least not in this month. I really was looking forward to the '75th Athletics National Meet'. I had been winning races in various competitions but this was the biggest opportunity I'd ever been given and I was determined to win. Well nothing shot of cancer would stop me from giving my best and Theo's words about focusing perfectly made sense now that I think of it now.
