After parking the car, he jumped out of it in haste and heaved the girl in his arms, carrying her cautiously up to the front steps.
He fumbled with the keys and the door was unlocked with a click.
Cracks can be heard with every footstep he took, with shards of glasses strewn everywhere. He ignored the wreckage and went straight into the only room that was spared from his rage.
He gently laid her on the bed and covered her with the comforter. In quick movements, he went to the kitchen to grab a basin and water and went to the bathroom to get medicine.
After a few minutes of scrambling and rummaging, he went back to the room.
She was trembling, beads of sweat could be seen on her forehead. Felix could feel the guilt ripping through him once again.
"Hey," Felix slightly shook her shoulder to wake her up, "you need to drink some medicine. You're temperature is burning high."
The girl fluttered her eyes open, blue pair of orbs looking dazed. Felix helped her so she can sit up and drink the paracetamol. Once she was done, he helped her to lay down. A few seconds thereafter and her eyes were once again closed.
Felix stayed for a few minutes, just watching the little girl.
Realization hit him. What the hell? Did I just brought a little girl inside-- my house?
But she's just a sick little girl. No harm on helping her, right? He thought.
But what if she's a part of a big gang that wants to ransack his house? The thought made him shudder. His imagination was flying again. He shook his head, trying to let the thoughts out of his mind.
This is the right thing to do.
This is what Marzia would tell her to do.
He squeezed the towel and started damping the girl's forehead with it. After doing so, he looked around the room.
Everything was still in place. The furnitures were covered with a thin layer of dust but it was still the same old room they decorated years ago.
He shut his eyes, as if trying to stop the searing pain inside him could be stopped the same way as trying to stop the tears that were theatening to fall. Felix went outside the room and closed the door.
He looked around their living room. Everything was indeed a mess. Felix stared and took in the havoc he made.
He went to grab a broom, a dustpan, and garbage bags and started cleaning the whole house.
He did not want his visitor to see the wreckage when she wakes up.

Felix was sound asleep on the couch. She silently tiptoed her way over to him and started poking his cheeks. He stirred and murmured, "Marzia, stop..."
When he opened his eyes, he did not see a pair of chocolate brown eyes. Instead there was a pair of cerulean blue, staring back at him. Realization struck him and he sat up hastily the couch tumbled backward, bringing him with it.
Felix stood up with a groan to see the girl, laughing wholeheartedly at his actions.
"S-sorry," She tried to say, failing on trying to stop her giggles, "I didn't want to interrupt your sleep, sir, but I just want to know if you want to eat."
Felix smiled, "What's your name?" he asked. He noticed some purplish spot on her neck. Bruises?
"Danna. But people call me Dawn." His focus snapped back to her. He mentally reminded himself to ask where she got those.
