It was half past ten when they finished eating the sweets. The guys were joking around to make Dawn happy. Well, happier than she could ever be, if it was still possible.
It was, indeed, the best day Danna Hurley could ever have.
Felix remembered something. He stood up and said quickly, "Wait here, I'll just go get something." He walked out of the room hurriedly.
"Felix did change," Jack observed, smiling demurely.
Mark faced Dawn and started patting her shoulder, "And that's thanks to you."
Dawn looked confused. Before she could ask what that meant, Felix already entered with a camera in hand.
"I thought I lost Marzia's instax," Felix soughed in relief, "This still has a few films in it."
"You could've thought of that when Dawn was just about to blow her candle!" Jack remarked in disbelief, but with a pint of sad smile on his lips. "That'd be a cute memory to capture, y'know."
Marzia loved to capture pictures with her instax on any occasion.
"Eh... sorry," Felix said, scratching his temple with his index finger.
"All right! Felix, you hold the camera since you already have it in your hand," Mark clapped and beckoned Dawn to the front of him and Jack.
Felix held the camera, the lens facing them. He started counting.
"Okay, in three... two... one..." flash.
The film rolled out of the camera. It was pitch-black at first. Felix grabbed it and started flicking it in the air. A few more minutes and the photograph appeared.
Felix smiled at the picture. He stared at it for a second before handing it to Dawn, "Here, Dawn, have it."
Dawn took the picture with both hands like it was something so important. And to her, it was indeed important.
Dawn looked at their smiling faces, her grin going wider.
"Hey, I want to have a solo picture with her!" Jack cheered and stood beside Dawn. Mark backed away from the view, chuckling.
Felix smiled and moved the camera up to his eyes.
"Dawn, let's do this pose," Jack said and did his most remarkable pose. He squatted and placed a hand over his face and the other in front of him. Dawn tried to do the same. She started laughing when she thought how funny it looked. Flash.
"Hey, me too!" Mark exclaimed and stood beside Dawn, nudging Jack away. "Do whatever you want, Dawn, 'kay?" Dawn chuckled and nodded. Mark did a duck face. Dawn raised a peace sign and smiled with her eye closed in a wink. She stuck her tounge out. Flash.
Jack grabbed the camera and the films in Felix's grip and pushed him toward the kid, "Your turn."
Felix chuckled. Mark went beside Jack as Felix crouched down.
"Let's be normal and have a piggy-back ride photo. Sound good?" Dawn climbed on his back, laughing. Felix stood up. He looked at his back and laughed with Dawn. Flash.
"Hey, we aren't even ready yet!" Felix protested.
"Shut up. You guys look cute," Jack said and took the film. He started flicking like Felix did and lent the camera to Mark.
Dawn clambered back down and went to Jack's side. Few minutes and the pitch-black film was replaced with a candid shot of Felix and Dawn.
Jack and Dawn stared at the photo. Then suddenly he handed all of the films to the kid and said, "Have them. That's the best we could give you as a present."
