Prologue
Rainie's POV
I held my little sister's hand as I walked down the marble corridor. My mom stood on my left, and my dad on my sister's right. It looked like we were going to be able to leave after all. We had just passed the staircase, when I heard a voice behind me.
"Where are you headed off to? There's work to be done." The voice drawled out behind me. I dropped my sister's hand, and spun to face the face of a man I hated.
"Look. We're done. Our five years are up, we owe you nothing. We're..." I moved into his face "LEAVING." I smirked and spun on my heels. I made to leave when I felt something grab the back of my shirt. It was him.
"No."
"No? What do you mean no? We had a deal, Micheal." My dad said, a his voice strained, as though he already knew the answer.
"I mean, you're NOT leaving."
"You can't keep us here. We don't owe you anything anymore. We're free."
"That can be fixed." He tightened his grip on my shirt. Then, he swung me by said shirt, sending me spiraling across the hall. I slammed face-first into a pot, which knocked it off of her pillar, and it crashed to the floor.
"Oh no! Now you owe an indefinite amount of servitude!

Aphin's POV
I opened the door into our bedroom. Me and my boyfriend's. However, there, he was making out girl.
"What?" I croaked, my voice hoarse.
"Babe, who is this?" The other girl turned to look at MY boyfriend. He ignored her.
"Aphin, babe, it's not what it looks like."
"Don't babe me. I'M DONE."
"What?"
"I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE! I'M LEAVING!"
"But... babe, What about... Us? We could have a fut-"
"No. You threw it away the first time you cheated on me." I finished packing a small bag. I turned, and ran from the room. I ran into the hallway, but heard him chasing me. I ran towards the stairwell.
"Aphin! Come back!"
"No! Never!" Suddenly, as I turned to yell at him. I tripped. I fell down the stairs, and the whole world went black.

Dashie's POV
I arrived at my house, and opened the door. I stepped inside, and my ears were instantly serenaded by the sound of arguing. Two of my younger siblings, Shadow and Flamie, were going at it again.
"Give me the pencil!"
"No!"
"But I need it!"
"I swear Shadow. Sometimes, you're SO bossy!" I shook my head. I was used to this, seeing as I was part of a family of 7. I sighed. I walked up to my Mom's room, and knocked.
"Go away, I'm busy!" Was the reply. Inside of me, a small part broke. She is still hiding in her room. I didn't bother answering. I just spun on my heels and went to my room. Once there, I just dropped on my bed.
Knock. Knock. Knock. I heard someone hitting the door.
"Come in!" I called. The door opened, and in came my brother Brett."Hey sis." He murmured. "Happy birthday." He handed me a purple cupcake. I smiled a bit at that.
"Thanks. No one else remembered."
"You know, you're 17 now. In a year, we could skip town together."
"I would love that."

Cooler's POV
I was so excited. Pinned to my shirt, just above my small pocket, was my brand new badge. My key into the world of the commander. I was officially an officer.
I walked down the hallway and joined the stream of other commanders. I followed them down a long, narrow corridor, where a bot checked that we had the proper ID and badge.
"Welcome new commander!" The bot told me, and ushered me through the door. I took my seat in the back and felt that I was finally doing what I meant to do. The leader stood up, and began to speak.
"Welcome members of the Warriors of Irene! I would like to acknowledge the new member here among us!" A cheer went up around my fellow commanders. "Cooler of O'Kassis! Please come here" I smiled, and stood. I headed down to the center of the ring. I held put out my hand, and he placed a thin white envelope in my hand. I opened it up, and saw my assignment.
