P.
Yea?
I think my parents are really getting divorced this time.
How do you know?
I saw the divorce papers. They hadn't been signed yet but out of the many times my parents had said that they would get divorced, they never went so far as to actually get the papers ready.
Oh no A, this must have been hard on you.
Hmm, I am not shocked though. In fact, considering what has been happening for the last fifteen years, I am glad they are getting divorced.
Don't say that A. I know you don't mean it.
No, I do P. I mean it. The way my dad treats my mom, she should have left him years back. They are always fighting, nagging and just ready to tear down each other's throats. Do you know they don't even sleep in the same room anymore?
Whoa! Had this been happening in my family, I would have run away from home. Does your brother know about it?
Of course he does. All this is why he never comes home. I haven't seen him once in the last six years.
That long?!
Yes. At times, I really wish he was by my side but I understand his position. He is at a point where he needs to focus on his career if he wants a good future, and its just not possible back at home. The constant drama and tension can drive anybody crazy, especially when my dad hits my mom.
What the hell? Why doesn't your mom complain to the police?
If she does complain, then dad will only make her life even worse. Her own family doesn't want to support her in order to protect their own family name. So she does the only thing she can do, stay quiet and endure.
Hmm.
Let's talk about something else. I am done worrying about this.
I am hungry.
What?
I am hungry A. Is it possible that we can go and grab a bite somewhere?
You are kidding me.
Nope. I really am hungry so please come with me to grab a bite.
But P, the sun is already beginning to rise. Our parents will soon wake up, and if they find out that we are not in our beds, things can go out of hand. We don't have much time.
Then let's run away. In that way, we will not be bound by time, and we can die at our own pace. We are free now A, are you really going to let the hours of night control your life?
But P.
Look A, I am not dying hungry. In fact, since this is my last meal, I am going to have a feast for myself.
You know, amidst all your crappy talk, you did make one good point. We are free now.
What do mean crappy talk?
Just listen. I am sure there are a few things that you must have wanted to do in your life, but could never do it for some reason. You know, like a bucket list. Why don't we tick a few items off it before we die?
I don't know A, I don't think I can afford to go to Vegas on my own.
Oh shut up.
Alright, I was just kidding. I like it. Let's do it.
Cool. So you go down and wait for me at the gate. I'll just grab my wallet from my room and meet you in a bit. Deal?
A deal it is.
