4:00pmI looked down at my watch and saw that it was 4:00pm on the dot. Brandon was supposed to be here, but it was time for our appointment and he wasn't. He left early for work this morning and told me that he would ask his boss if he could leave an hour early, but it looked like he didn't. It was just showing me where his head was at and that he didn't really care to fix our relationship.
Even if Brandon wasn't going to come to therapy for us, I was going to continue to go for myself. I had other problems in my life besides my relationship. My parents and I still had a strain in our relationship and that took a toll on me. I was still coping with Elijah's death as well, so I think therapy will be beneficial.
"Are you Miss Logan?" The therapist came out and I stood up.
"Yes that's me. Dr. Ellis? Right?" I asked for confirmation and she nodded.
She was a really pretty woman. She had black dreads that stopped at her shoulders with little strands of gray in it. She wore all black with a pop of red which complimented her beautiful mocha skin. We love to see a black woman working in mental health.
"Okay let's get started then," she said and we walked to the back where her office was.
"Please take a seat," she pointed to the couch.
She took a seat on the recliner while in sat on the loveseat. She put her glasses on then took out a pen and some paper I'm assuming to write something.
"Okay so what brings you in today Amirah?" She started off.
"Well my boyfriend and I are going through a lot in our relationship right now and I think this was our last resort," I explained to her.
"Where is your significant other?" She looked over to the empty spot on the couch next to me.
"Um I think he's going to be a little late. He should be here soon though," I still held onto hope that he was coming.
"Okay well while we wait for..." she trailed off.
"Brandon," I gave her his name.
"Okay well while we wait for Brandon why don't you walk me through your relationship," she suggested and I nodded.
"How long have you guys been together?" She asked.
"Four years," I answered.
"Wow that's a long time. Why don't you start at the beginning. How did you guys meet?" She asked and I smiled at the memory.
