Amirah
The Next Morning
Houston, TX
5:15amI sat at the front desk of the dormitory completing some assignments I knew I would be too busy to do tonight because I was planning on spending the day with my sister and my best friend, Mariah. I didn't have classes on Thursday's so every two weeks we would get lunch together and do some side activity. This came at the right time because I was still mad at Brandon.
I sat here for hours trying to see if I was over reacting, but I don't think I was. I had a genuine reason to be upset. Speaking of the devil, I just received a text from him.
Brandon <3: Amirah can we talk when you get off? - received at 5:17am
Me: what's there to talk about? - delivered at 5:17am
Brandon <3: come on babe. i am genuinely sorry, so can we plzzzz talk when you get back before i go to work? - received at 5:18am
Me: K. - delivered at 5:18amMy shift was almost over anyways. He started work at 7, so I knew that he was getting ready to hop in the shower. By the time that I got home, he should be out and getting dressed.
This conversation could go either one of two ways. We could make up and put this behind us or it would turn into a big argument. Don't you just hate when you put your all into something and it backfires? That's how I was feeling right now.
I tried not to think about last night too much as I put the final touches on my paper that was due tomorrow. I sat down at the desk, waiting for 5:30 to come, so that I could go home. After my talk with Brandon, I would do what I usually do which is sleep until about 2pm and start getting ready for my lunch date with the girls. I hope they didn't pick anything expensive because my dumb ass used some of my spending money on that gift for Brandon.
"Hey Amirah. I'm here to relieve you," my coworker, Mason, came up behind me.
"Okay cool," I responded nonchalantly as I clocked out on the computer.
"Everything alright? You must be stressing about that paper we have in Maddox's class?" He chuckled and I cracked a small smile. We were in the same British literature class. I wish I didn't put that requirement off because I hated that class.
"No. I actually just finished it, but I'll see you later Mason," I told him before gathering my things.
"Yeah. You have a good one," he told me and I wished him the same before walking out of the dorm and to my car.
It was still a little dark outside, but she sun was about to rise. I got into my car and started to make my way back home. I played some music to keep myself occupied, so I wouldn't think too much as I was driving.
