The redguard man, most likely never had been hit by an arrow before, ripped the arrow from his bleeding forearm, widening the blood-spilling cut even more so than before.
"You'll pay for that!" Both men unsheathed their iron swords, closing in on the women.
Cerise began nailing her attacker, the nord man, with a flurry of arrows. He was tougher than he looked and took many of the shots with only a slight stagger. His armor prevented many vital shots, such as the heart and head, so the nord woman notched another arrow and loosed it at his exposed throat. The sharpened tip of the arrow stuck like glue, and the man gasped as his life force slowly began to wane. As soon as the arrow was removed he would bleed out in a matter of seconds, Cerise wasted no time though, the woman unsheathed her axe and swung with a mighty force at the man's neck. There was a soft crunch at impact and he fell lifelessly to the dusty ground.
Over by Ullr, Bruse was latched on to the redguard's arm, dragging him towards his master who now had another arrow notched. His helmet was now brandished in the dirt somewhere, thanks to one of his attackers and Cerise launched another arrow through his eye. The impact was not fatal, but enough to make the man fall to the ground, giving Bruse full access to his exposed jugular vein.
The fight was over in a sheer matter of minutes and Cerise panted slightly as she retrieved her arrows from both corpses and then set forth patting down the bodies for valuables. On one of the men, she found a small envelope with a brief letter and small map to a cavern nearby, which was most likely where the men were heading. She also found a satchel of septims and a bottle of nord mead in the back packs, but the rest was mostly junk.
Cerise managed to move both bodies and dump them near the bank of the lake before settling back down next to her skinned hare. She then began roasting the meat on a makeshift spit above the fire and watching Ullr silently as she waited.
The woman considered briefly to ask the woman of her injuries, but she appeared more rattled than anything. Sigra still snorted anxiously but was quiet for the most part. The rest of the evening was peaceful for Cerise. Her eyes had traced over Ullr's sleeping form once before kicking dirt over the dwindling fire and snuffing out the yellow flame. Ullr's arm was bandaged but the girl seemed fine so Cerise left it at that. She carefully repacked her things, leaving out only her apples and a few scraps of leftover rabbit for the morning and settled into her tent with Bruse lodged within the walkway, a careful guard at the nord's feet.
Her sleep was dreamless and the chill of Skyrim's nights was one of the things that helped lull her into a deeper sleep without much thought. Bruse often would make rounds around the campsite while she slept, before settling back at her feet to nap again if there was no signs of immediate danger. It was a pack behavior that came as instinct to him and while it was untrained, Cerise was lucky for his intuition to guard them all.
Cerise woke just as the sun began to rise, Bruse staring back at her with yellow eyes as she sat up from her slumber. Ullr was still sleeping, so the nord woman took this time to pack up the campsite and saddle Sigra. When the laboring was done, she refilled her waterskins at the lake and fed Bruse the remaining rabbit's leg.
Munching on her own apple after feeding Sigra the other, she waited patiently for Ullr to arise. If it got too late she would rouse her, but it was still very early in the morning so Cerise settled for sharpening her arrowheads with the edge of her hunting knife.
Her steely eyes would glance over to the orsimer girl's form every so often, watching her perched against the stallions back in a seemingly comfortable sleep.
