Xander's POV

"I don't care your relationship with her! Sam died so I need a new slave! That's your job and you do it right, or I'll kick you back out onto the street. Do you hear me!?" I yell frustratedly into the phone, my hand immediately going to run through my black hair. Force of habit.

There's silence on the other end of the phone, and for a second I think he hung up on me. I feel my anger quickly rise, and I look at the screen to see the call is still active. My anger diminishes lightly. Good, he hasn't lost all his brain... Yet.

"Yes sir." After at least a minute, a weak voice says on the other line. I'd be lying if I said it didn't annoy me to have to wait for a response for that long, but I needed him to get this done as soon as possible, so I cut it short. There wasn't any time to waste yelling at him for his lack of a quick response, no matter how angry he made me.

"Good. And don't mess up, or you'll regret it." I strictly state before quickly hanging up the phone and setting it on the desk below the black lamp.

I don't quite remember why I took Blake in. "Silly you", a voice in my head says. "You needed more staff at the time and he just happened to be living on the streets near your home."

"Well, then again, it was all planned to begin with. He hasn't found out yet. Hence the agreement has gone well so far. You don't have to return him to his rightful place quite yet. But if he disobeys, you have right never to..." Another voice says, but I ignore them. All they do is be a nuisance.

I sigh, very frustrated to say the least. He better not screw this up. I've been keeping my eyes on Alexa for a while, and now is my chance to get her. If he screws this up, I will make it my duty to make sure he regrets it. His luck is already running very thin. "If he keeps this up, you just might have to do some contacting. And even if he doesn't know yet, that's the last thing he would want you to do. He better watch his attitude."

***Flashback***

It was almost a full year ago when I first saw Alexa. I was in town where Blake was staying, and had come to give him a - not so pleasant - surprise visit. But as I was approaching the rental home, I noticed him entering my black Tundra.

I squint, wondering where he could be going. It was currently 4:30 in the afternoon, so he didn't have school or anything related. He hops into the truck, not noticing me approaching, and starts to drive off the opposite direction down the street. I decide to follow him, curious as to wherever he could possibly be going.

He soon stops in front of a small  tan house a couple streets from the rental home. It had a double garage in the front, with a small porch to the left of it in front of the front door.

He parks on the curb in front of the house, and exits the truck. He quickly walks up to the front door and knocks on it.

He stands there for a couple minutes, then the door opens. I can't see who it is at first, but then I see that it is a bright blonde girl. He reaches out to her and hugs her briefly before waking inside.
